Changes Changes Changes

Heya guys - its been some time since I've checked in, but just got caught up on old posts - at least some of them

So since my surgery, I have lost 133 pounds and I feel fantastic. I've gone from a 56 waist to a 44. I can wear clothes made for humans now, instead of modified tents. I can tie my shoes! I can reach all parts of my body in the shower without contortions. Sex has been "enhanced."  It's all been just grand.

As my weight has come down, other aspects of my life have improved, or at least changed. In December I moved to Washington DC for a job transfer. Now working at the NIH. I've sold my house in Atlanta in like 9 weeks (record time for this market) and lots other positive things. Relations with my father are great (we used to hate each other) and I was able to tell my mother to  'go to hell' (thank you therapy).  So all in all, no complaints.

I just in the last 2 weeks am now able to each meat again, which makes getting the protein in a lot more fun. But, I have noticed myself craving sweets too. I've mostly managed to avoid them with a few very minor incursions (a bite of something).

I have not enacted any major exercise program beyond walking. My surgeon in Atlanta wanted me to start weight training, but I keep putting it off. And I am having trouble - a lot of trouble - finding a surgeon in the DC area to continue with for follow-up care. I've spoken with 2 different offices and I keep kinding front office staff who are either stupid, rude, or both. Any advice?

I'll post some new pics this weekend.

Beau, Congrats. It sounds like a lot of very positive things are happening for you. Let me re-phrase that, you have made a lot of changes that ked to positive results. It's important, I think, to realize that you are doing the hard work and making the hard decisions that lead to the positives that are coming to you.  (enough psychobabble, you pay someone for that!). In any event, you are doing a great job with your life. Keep it up!

Sounds like your life is going great, good for you! Do follow through with trying new types of exercise...weight lifting or bike riding or something. I found weight lifting to really help with muscle developement, helping you to feel better about your body and increases your metabolism. You can even start with some weights at home but check out proper body mechanics. I would just keep trying on the doctor's offices, or get a referral from your previous surgeon. Times are tight and so sometimes places are understaffed. Best of luck to you!!
