2 years post op and weight gained
It's normal that you can eat a lot more, now you must rely on those good habits that you built over the years it took to lose the weight. I know I can eat a lot, even more than some other WLS'ers so I have to be extra careful about my food choices.
It ain't easy, but you can do it!
Great Job!

I have to agree. I'm 1 year and 8 months post op, and i swear, there are some days where i feel like i can eat even more than i did BEFORE wls. (but then again, there are days that a couple of bites makes me feel overstuffed.....go figure). But that's when you have to notice it yourself and put yourself back in check. I don't need to eat that much, truth be told, i don't even get hungry 90% of the time....so why am i eating? I try to keep myself on a schedule and eat at the same times daily and not snack, that way i'm in control.
I found myself 12 pounds above my goal, and had to quickly readjust because it scared the hell out of me. But, it was easy to get back on track, and now i'm back down closer to my goal (only 1 pound above as of this morning).
I don't know about others, but for me, keeping track of what i'm eating, even this far out, is what keeps me accountable. So, i'm back to tracking everything i eat, and pre-planning the day's meals and excersize so that i know i'm at a caloric deficit or breaking even.

Remember, it's normal to gain about 20 pounds AFTER you hit your LOWEST weight! Most people only see their LOWEST weight for a really short time and then the body wants to even itself out, so people usually gain around 10lbs.
And yes, by now you can eat more. The goal is to take everything you were taught and use it to your advantage. Go ahead and eat ...jus****ch WHAT you are eating and don't fall into your old habits!

I am 2 years and 4 months out too, maintaining my 170-180 lb weight loss. IT definitely scares me when I can eat a whole big sandwich (like yesterday) in one sitting. I feel I can mostly eat "normal" amounts. My pre-op bad habits have returned though the amount and food choices are better. I am prone to grazing after work . . my major pre-op bad habit.
But, I just focus on the new, good habits, most of the time. Eat small amounts, multiple times during the day. Focus on protein. Drink plenty. Exercise (though be hampered by recent plastic surgery and winter). Record food, track weight. Go to Obesity Help.
Still, some days like yesterday, are a problem. This morning, while I am recording weight and food, I am reflecting on why I was so hungry last night. Bored, stress, wanting to be back to normal after plastics, anxiety about trip to Florida tomorrow.
I like being able to eat "normally". I hope I can keep the weight off with the attentiveness and activity.

Hey there. I am 2 years, 5 months out. A few months ago I started going down the path of eating crap, but have since then reverted back to my healthy ways of eating. Do I still sneak in some not-so-good stuff? Yep! I am able to eat quite a bit now, but still waaaaay less than I did before surgery. I am also working out, so I need more food. Your body goes threw times when it needs more calories, so maybe this is one of those times. Hang in there bud!
Hey Jerry, I remember you. I am a 30 months post-op Lapbander. I agree with the others. At this stage, I have learned my band well. I know how to cheat and what goes down real well. I am holding steady on my weight and will take that. It's time to stay on top of it and practice the good habits I learned so well that 1st year. I do Weigh****chers. That weekly weigh-in does a lot to motivate me. Congrats on your success! Tom
