New to OH - Greetings!
Hello to all. Just wanted to stop in and introduce myself. Glad I found this group, never hurts to get a little more specialized support in this journey I've started. My name is Kim, and I'm looking to getting VSG in either Jan/Feb 2011. Right now, I'm mostly just researching everything and preparing myself for what's to come. I look forward to reading everyone's stories and learning more about ya'll.
Hi Kim!
I'm Leza and I just moved from Austin to the Denver area to be closer to my dad. I am having Roux-en-Y on Tuesday morning after trying in vein to get insurance to pay for it for a decade. I live with my partner and 4 year old twin daughters and am in college full time.
Nice to "meet" you and good luck with your surgery!

Welcome to the group. LIke Wendy, I started coming here daily prior to surgery. Lots of great infomation and these people are a wonderful support group.
I had RNY on 08 Oct. I'd be interested to hear the difference and reason for VSG vs RNY. I think a lot of people here have RNY but would like some enlightenment on the other procedures.

Welcome, Kim and the other newbies! We're a great "family" here. Most of us connect on facebook too. Feel free to add me... www.facebook.com/musicmaryn

Welcome Kim!
I've been lurking around this forum for almost three years. OH has been SO helpful all along my weight loss journey. I started out learning everything I could in all kinds of forums before gastric bypass. I used the message boards for support after surgery - sometimes writing, reading lots and feeling like my experience was "typical". Most recently, the plastic surgery message board was really helpful prior to my "chest/abdomen sculpting" surgery 12 days ago.
I found foods to try, recipes, good products, costs, insurance approval ideas, typical weight loss, how much to exercise, types of plastic surgery procedures, surgeon reviews, what other people ate and recovery process course.
My story . . . I had gastric bypass 9/08, went from 323 lbs to 150 lbs. My weight has been stable for a year. My partner and I have been together for 6 years; she has been wonderfully supportive. Our relationship is basically unchanged. Two weeks ago, I had plastic surgery - recovering at home for the month.
Feel free to ask anything, someone will know.
Meg
