Re-introduction, and off topic: my submission for It Gets Better
Hey Guys and Gas,
I thought I'd swing in to say hi, and reintroduce myself to my queer brothers and sisters.
About me: I'm two years out from surgery. I started at 517lbs, and am now 236lbs.
I made an entry for the It Gets Better campaign in response to all the gay teen suicides. Check it out!

It breaks my heart to see all the young people that feel that suicide or drugs are an escape from the ridicule they get from peers and (in some cases) family. I stayed in the closet until the day after my 18th birthday b/c I knew that my father couldn't do anything to me at that point. He had legal custody of me, although I left over a year prior to that.
I was VERY fortunate in that I had my grandmother (the first to know I was gay), my mother, some extended family and all my friends to support me. In hindsight, I have not lost a SINGLE friend b/c of my sexual orientation. Too bad I can't say the same for jobs.
Are there protections in the public schools in Canada for GLBT youth?
