Another newbie back!
Aye caremba -- I'm back from Mexico with a lot less stomach and some very fond memories of high great everyone is at Dr. Alvarez's hospital. I won't lie -- I was shaking in my booties some of the time but everyone's kindness made a stressful situation a lot less stressful. I'm still kinda pooped but feeling very good about this decision. Again, thanks to everyone here, too; you all helped. I'll post more about my experience soon.

Glad you're back and hope the post-op recovery is going well.
Just curious since you had your surgery in Mexico how you're handling the follow-up. Is your local doc checking things out or will you have to do return trips to Mexico?
Looking forward to more about your experience.

My doctor is very anti-WLS so he remains blissfully unaware that I have had a VSG. If something comes up I will tell him, but for now everything is smooth sailing (knock on wood). I have no plans for any return trips to Mexico related to this, but I am hoping to attend Dr. Alvarez's annual patient reunion in Vegas in May 2011.
He had a couple of patients who had WLS (not sure what kind but I would guess lapband) and they have regained all the weight they lost. He sees it as a pointless thing to do as it is not effective (as opposed to dieting, which has a whopping 5% success rate!) He's a "pull yourself up by your own bootstraps" type but he is also smokin' hot so I will forgive him just about anything as long as he keeps wearing tight pants! ;-)
