FATabulous update

Greetings queers and friends. Just a little update from ol' Dogboy.

I am 30 days out from surgery, and while I still have the catheter in my dick, I'm feeling and doing great. Down 50 some odd pounds already and can certainly feel the difference. Like I can wash my as sin the shower without some wierd contortions or squating over the shower sprayer! The couch has stopped creaking when I sit on it. And my as sis fitting perfectly in my new Mini Cooper Convertible.

I'm learning the pouch - its wierd and cool. I'm still eating mush. The other day I tried to introduce some ever so slightly more 'chunky' food - a thin chili. Two micro-teaspoon sized bites and.*barf*. Ok and no one mentioned that barfing was this wierd new experience. I mean there isn't at least for me, that horrible wretching from like deep inside. No this is more like the a scene from a girl's finishing school - totally poised and just one little 'ack' and it's all out. Wierd!

The catheter is awful. I am basically in a constant state of pain, from a 2 to a 7. Not much else can be done, jut get the thing out of me. 11 more days.
So, I am to understand that there will be no side dishes tonight? - Eric Cartman

Glad to hear you're doing well. You have an amazingly good attitude for someone who has had a tube hanging out of his dick for nearly a month.

As for the barfing ... it can move well beyond the finishing school "ack" and on to some man-sized "ralphs" once your diet advances some. Take it slow on the additions to the diet becasue your pouch may be a mean ******* (as mine is - 4 months out, two stricture dilations and a gall bladder surgery, and I still cannot eat meat or poultry of any kind) Soup and cottage cheese seem to work pretty well for me - pretty boring, but much better that the constant throwing up.

Continued good luck on the weight loss ... and better luck in 11 days for the removal of your good friend, the catheter.

Congrats on your success. Losing 50 lbs in 30 days is a great accomplishment.

I've read your other post about your surgery nighmare and I hope you don't mind a question. Did you have laproscopic surgery or the more traditional type?

I'm scheduled for laproscopic and they've said nothing about putting in a catheter. In fact, they're indicating that the whole surgery will only be a couple of hours. Wonder if I'm getting the whole story.

I can't reply as to what is normal, but my surgeon does insert a catheter for a laproscopic surgery. Unless there is an issue, he said that he will remove it before the anesthesia wears off. So, usually there is no memory of the event. However, I still felt an irritation when urinating for the next day or two. So, it is probable that your surgeon would also use a cath.

Thanks for the info. Will verify with my surgeon if they plan to use one and request removal while still in recovery.

Caths are done for all surgeries that require general anesthesia or a spinal block.  I had one for my c-section, it was taken out the morning after I had the girls.  My surgeon said the cath would be taken out the day after my WLS as well.  Standard protocol in surgery, unfortunately.
