When I had my RNY 06/10/2008 I was on this sight everyday to get support and feel part of this amazing community. Slowly I drifted away as life seemed to go on. I have had no issues from my surgery my weight went from 325 now a am between 175-180 BMI 24 all health issues resolved (back still a problem). I am in a rut I seem to eat the same thing everyday food is just fuel to me.

I am curious what are you eating on a regular basis.

We also used to state things we were thankful for the day.

I am thankful for the ability to walk up the 4 flights of stairs every day for work with out feeling it.
Thankfuk for Kaiser for the education I received prior too and since my surgery.

And ZONE Peanut butter protein bars.

Eh, wish I could give you ideas.  Talk about a RUT.  I am a GB Vegan so "Rut" is my middle name.

Hi!!
I was thinking the same thing earlier, I was thinking I need to get on the web and see if anyone had any recipes or any new food ideas. One thing I have found that I don't have a lot. Maybe twice a week..is Arnolds Sugar Free Bread. Its a multi grain bread that has no sugar. I may have one piece of toast a couple of different days. I also am a big fan of grilled tilapia..I use adobo or the montreal chicken dry rub on it.  I like skinless boneless grilled chicken breast. One new thing I have done with that, is I get a dry italian rub or calorie free sugar free fat free italian dressing (found it at an all natural food store) and marinate the chicken in that. Grill the chicken when it is just about done I will take a piece of low fat or ff cheese, place that on the chicken let it melt. Then I will put about 1/4  -  1/2 tablespoon of low sugar pasta sauce. Its basically chicken parm but grilled and serve it with some steamed veggies. I hope that helps...but I hear ya on the rut....Have a good day

I'm a year out and I'm struggling to lose my last 20 pounds. I'm thinking it's cause I'm in a rut as well....I'm getting so bored with the same foods.  Hopefully someone will come to our rescue....lol

Congrats on your wonderful success!

Also, I love getting whatever the meat counter has on special... Asparagus Chicken, Fajitas, Turkey burgers...I've had some great stuff from them and they can tell you how to cook it and what goes well with it.

Bonne Chance

Thanks for the links, I made a folder on my favorites bar and bookmarked all 3. This pre-surgery liquid diet suucks, and I'm really looking forward to the return of meat.

Just to let you know it gets easier the further out that you go because you train yourself with what you should and should not eat.  I know when I eat something that I should not have.

If you are not at goal (within reason that is) then you either are eating the worng kinds of food, or are not SUPRISE, eating enough calories and basicly burning more than you are eating and when you do eat your body freaks out and thinks that every meal is it's last.

@jwestall - do not be suprised if meat (ie steak) does not agree with you.  I was lucky that I am able to eat meat/steak.  Also make sure that you do not eat steak within the first 6 months.  You are still healing.  I choose not to eat steak till my one year.  I will tell you this, that was the BEST steak I've had!

Good luck.

Hoo boo. A year you say. It just so happens my father is a farmer, and has a few cattle. I might just wander out to the barn when I visit this weekend and pick and personally bless my future filet mignon. Daddy raises very very tasty beef. I'm going to kosher salt cure that puppy and broil it just enough to not be raw, it's going to try to crawl off the plate before I stab it with my knife and fork and eat it in eraser sized bites. It's going to be so good. I can taste it now.

Oh boy, time for another skim milk pseudo-strawberry lump-shake.

Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels.

There. I typed those out by hand, and I feel a little better.

Who am I kidding. At this point I'd seriously consider igniting a pile of thermite on a cows ass and digging at the wound with a spoon.

*sigh*

Thanks for the inspiration ;)

I said a year because steak is very dense and if your pouch is not ready for it you will be in for a world of hurt.

You just really need to wait till your doctor approves/releases you to "normal" food.  Usually for dense steak mine said 6 months, but still at that time it will be a waste as you will likely only eat a couple of bites.

Time to find a buddy that is willing to share!

Good luck!

If I enjoy eating it, it's not a waste if I have to order a 16 oz steak and send 15 oz back. But I'm definitely going to let my body be the guide - from everything I've heard, the recovery time, and what foods people tolerate, is intensely personal and unique, and I have no intention of being one of those post-ops who's throwing up all the time.

Thanks for the luck ;)
