The insurance woman from my surgeon's office just call me to tell me that one of my insurance's doesnt cover the gastric sleeve, well mabye you should have found that out when i asked about it. My orignial choice was the Roux en y anyway so why did they try to talk my into something else that my insurance didnt cover, det dah dee, but now im happy that i get the original surgery i wanted and my date should remain the same. I can't wait until sept. 30th. Move over loser's here i come.

Damn, that sucks that they convinced you to have another type of surgery and then it won't be covered. But at least you're going back to what you originally wanted, and are happy with that. Best of luck!
Congrats on having your date and such. I did look hard at the VSG (sleeve) and was close to getting that procedure. I liked the idea of leaving the pylorus valve in place and not messing around with the intestines - plus having no limitation on food types. That last bit I think was what swung me back to RNY. I think being realistic, I really need need the increased restriction of RNY. It really was best if I never ate sugar ever again - and the prospect of yacking it up or squirting it out is enough to make me skip it. :)
Conrats again. Just 2 weeks out from surgery, and even with my complication with the catheter - I have no regrets.

Hey Joe!
Ya a lot of insurance companies do not cover VSG because it is still so much newer than RNY and Lapband. I'm glad you have the RNY covered and you're all set to go at the end of the month. By the looks of your weight tracker, you are already on the loser's bench! Keep up the great work pre-op and your post-op and recovery will be that much easier!

Good luck, Joe! This stage with insurance seems so long. Before you know it, you will be post-op and this will be history. Glad you are getting the surgery you want. I look forward to watching your progress. -- Tom
