70 hours away!
Surgery is about 70 hours away as I write this. I'm excited, anxious, and ready.
I just finished organizing all the various paperwork and such from the folder I was shoving everything in, to an actual notebook. It's amazing to see just how much effort it has taken to get to this point. All the documentation and doctor's visits and tests and everything. In fact, I've seen so many doctors since January that the actual surgery isn't costing me a dime, as I have met my maximum out-of-pocket for the year.
I am nervous that I just haven't lost enough weight pre-surgery. I have been on a strict, low/zero carb Atkins type diet for the last 3.5 weeks, and while I have managed to lose 19 pounds so far, I would have liked to see 30. It's not over yet of course. Today I am on track, with a nice meal planned for tonight my best friend is preparing for me - all prepared to my specifications. Then tomorrow I am on clear liquids. I think I can squeeze 10 pounds out of this potato-of-a-body.
I watched a full length video of the procedure this morning. I've seen and read so much about RNY and all the WLS procedures, I almost think I could do it myself. No one can say I wasn't informed.
I appreciate all the support and good wishes from you guys too. Your stories are inspiring and your advice is invaluable.
Now it's time to GIT-R-DUN! (Did I spell that right - my redneck is rusty)

Best of luck to you on this new journey. Know some days ahead will be rough but well worth it in the end. I pray that you come through surgery with no complications and feel good shortly. You are onto your new life and the losers bench. Congrats on the beginning of your journey and I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
You are on your way! 19 pounds is 19 pounds less than you used to way. It's a good start for a few weeks. More importantly, it is teaching you a better way to eat and live. Any pre-op weight loss is a bonus and a help to your post-op success. Before you know it you will be on the loser's bench.

Hey don't knock 19 pounds, that's 19 pounds off of your liver which is a good thing. Best of luck, since i can say I'm two weeks post op today you will do great. The hardest day for me was the day after surgery. Know that they will make you get up and walk and drink than you will be golden. I know what you mean when you say how informed you are, it doesn't hurt any to be informed and you will be better off for it. Congrats!
