I'm new to the site and just wanted to say hi... Any ideas on how to make the next few months go by quickly? My surgery date is in November... it seems like an eternity!

Welcome!!!

Sorry about the repost, but I just posted this answer a day or so ago and I'm copying and pasting it for you.

The next month or so is going to be hell.    How's that for not sugar coating the truth :)
But in all honesty, looking back... the waiting time was actually very memorable and a wonderful stepping stone in the journey.  Embrace this time, reflect on you, reflect on why past diets have failed, reflect on how you are going to better yourself post op.  Take a long hard look at what you don't like about your life.  Start examining all the "What ifs" in your life.  Take a LONG HARD LOOK at what's holding you back.  What things do you regret not doing, and why?  Start taking inventory of who your real friends are.  Start looking long and hard at your relationships, what makes them strong, what makes them weak.  How are things at work, what's holding you back from advancement.

I am telling you these things as a friend and as someone who is passing down shoes that I have worn.

Losing weight is going to drastically change your life.  You don't realize it now how much of an impact it's going to have.  Have I scared you?  If someone asked me today if I would do it again knowing what I  know now... I'd say HELL NO... I WOULD HAVE DONE IT A HELL OF A LOT SOONER!!!!  I don't regret surgery one bit, I only regret not doing it sooner.

I know this wasn't the response you were expecting, but it's just something I wanted to share.  For those people who are in the limbo waiting game, don't focus on the wait... focus on the journey ahead.  It's going to be like one you've never experienced before.  Get ready for the new you... we'll be here along the way to make sure you absolutely love it!

My advice:  keep a journal so that you can look back on these times.  Make up lists of all the things you want to do when you are 'smaller'.  Take your measurements.  Take your photo.  Get ready to start living.

Also, write yourself a letter that you plan on opening one your one year anniversary.  That would be a nice gift to yourself.

Congrats on your date.... and I hope all goes smoothly and wonderfully for you!

Tony, thank you for your post! I know there is a lot of soul searching to be done both pre and post op!

Thank all of you for your warm welcome!
