Hospital Stay
I packed fresh clothes, extra undies, biotene (mouthwash) for dry mouth, and chapstick. Amazingly, I felt like I could walk much easier with underwear on. I bought "granny panties" and hiked them all the way up and over my insicions ...without underwear on it felt like my stomach was drooping and pulling down on my insicions. I had comfy/stretchy cottons pants too.
On day 2 after I was cleared to start with my liquids I showered and got dressed. If I wasn't sipping liquids I was either asleep or walking the hospital floor. Yes, they will have you walking the next day! In between those times I just used the not so quiet time to catch up on my shows.
When my G/F had her surgery I thought I would be nice and bring her her laptop and she didn't even take it out of the bag - and this is someone who is obsessed with the thing.

I didn't forget them, but the best thing I packed was my slippers. I walked a lot and some of the halls don't have carpets. I was also really glad I had my laptop. I could be in touch with people who were concerned about me at times when I was sitting in the chair, and it helped fight the boredom when I was waiting for visits from various medical people. Best of luck with the surgery.
