Pre-op diet suggestions
Were you told you had to stick with a liquid diet? I replaced some of the protein shakes with eggs because I just couldn't stand eating. I figured as long as I stayed low carb I'd be ok, and I made sure to follow all liquids for 2-3 days before surgery.
So, besides shakes, I had low-sodium broth, sugar free jello, the occasional egg, and one night when I went out to eat I had the broth to French Onion soup (no cheese, no onions, lol). After all that dieting it tasted pretty good.
I wish I had better suggestions for you, but that was it.

Are you allowed cream or puree soups on your diet? Imagine brand makes these delicious organic cream soups which saved me on my pre-op diet. I especially loved the potato leek and butternut squash.
What protein meal replacements are you using? Are you stuck with a particular brand, or can you make your own?

Every doctor seems to be so different in their pre-op prep requirements. I was never required to do clear liquids, but I have definitely heard of docs requiring it just for the day before. Sounds about right, but when in doubt, probably best to call the office and double-check!
Good luck with your surgery. That is right around the corner!

Thank You All!,
sadly my doctor is pretty insistent that i do a full two weeks prior to surgery of Bari-Advantage Protein Meal replacement shakes and I'm allowed broth, jello, and Popsicles. I do understand their reasoning they want my liver to shrink so there is no chance of nicking it.....however my head is screaming I'm hungry!
I do like the concept of scrambled eggs since they are protein, I'm off to the office tomorrow so i will ask them if i can also / substitute a shake for them.
I actually forgot french onion soup is essentially broth so I'm thinking even without the onions and cheese i will still have some flavor.
Thank you once more. Any and all suggestions will be accepted and gladly appreciated.
