What do you think?
Let me throw this out there please let me know what you all think. Last night my partner and I had company and I was asked will I ever be able to eat normal? My reply was I will never be able to eat a plate that you would consider "normal" well my partner jumped in a said that wasn't true that my stomach could stretch and I would be able to eat like that again. In my mind I am determind to make this work and have a lifestyle change. I sort of felt that she was putting my dreams down. Am I readying into this to much? Thanks for any insite.
Slv----if you are determined to make this work than that's all that matters. I have had people ask me certain questions like is that all I'm going to eat or do you get hungry or what stuff will you never eat again. Sometimes I find it easiest just to explain the surgery and foods I will and won't eat. As far as your partner, maybe you should talk to her and tell her that comment bothered you and why it bothered you. Maybe she just doesn't understand the whole procedure. I wish you nothing but success

The part of the stomach that the pouch is made from is not very stretchable. Now, it will grow as an adaptation to what the body considers a trauma.
I am nearly 6 years post-op and I can only eat about 3/4 to 1 cup of food at one time.
As long as you don't overeat to the point of vomiting several times a day for several years, you will most likely NOT stretch your pouch.

I think sometimes it is a semantics thing.....I would think alot of folks think I eat normal, for a skinny person...My sister told me the other day that she was glad we could still go to resturants and stuff together....So is it 'normal' like I used to, no. But it is normal for me post op and I feel I fit in okay. And by the way, what does how you eat impact other people??
I try to focus on eating slow, enjoying what I am eating and the company I am with....Keep your dreams....
