Carbo load
Hey need some input:
I am in my first short triathlon on Sunday. I know before any type of sporting event most athletes carbo-load. Well I can't really do that. I am almost 8 months post op and still haven't tried pasta. I have had rice and sugar free bread as far as carbs go. I haven't had pasta because I don't miss it, oddly enough. So should I just stick to the same diet that my body has become used to? I thought I would just make sure I get a little extra protein...anybody have any thoughts on this?

I recall a similar question on the Health and Fitness board, I believe they said that it's best to up carbs a few days before, not eat a bunch the night before otherwise it will weight you down. You can do whole grain carbs without the guilt too...

I might be a little late but I have been eating (about once a week) the new Barilla Plus pasta. It's whole wheat and has...wait for it...PROTEIN! It's very tasty. I only do 1/2 cup with about 1/4 cup pasta sauce but it's yummy. I just chew it well and haven't had any problems. I am afraid of rice and non-toasted bread!
