that is so freakin awesome!!!!!!!!  it's a great feeling to be able to do stuff without having to worry about "breaking" things with your weight!  or looking like a blob on toothpicks.........two years ago if i were to get on a bike, I bet that thing would have just snapped LOL

Wow!  Your goals sound like mine.  Last summer (actually fall), my partner and I took an outdoor education course on kayaking.  We even did a weekend kayaking camping trip.  Now, we are taking riding lessons.  I actually rode as a kid but my partner has only been on a horse a handful of times.  It is so fun.  I always thought I did everything I wanted to in life as a fat person.  The reality is that I did except I only ever partially participated because of the weight.  I never was able to explore the activity fully!!!!  I love being fully engaged!!!

Congratulations on your kayaking . . . did you buy one?

No..did not buy and probably won't, but will rent and go out with my son who is an experienced kayaker..He lives on Cape Cod and knows all the nooks and crannies..and I have always wanted to go with him..
If the truth be told I was not a graceful exiter from the boat and needed some help but were I on my own I would have gotten out another way..

We as fatties always had to adapt to things..chairs, stairs, car seats, concert seats..AIRPLANE seats..who had to buy a second seat?? Remember how awful that was for your psyche?..

I've been wanting to kayaking for a while now, I'm only 3 weeks post-op but still planning on going soon. Glad to hear you had so much fun doing it, i think i'll enjoy it too.
Don't live your life based on what you had in the past, but on what you want to have in the future.

Yeah Judex! Me too! I went yesterday for 4 hours and it was amazing!! I can't believe all the things that I let slip from my life- but I'm bringing them back!

A friend of mine is also a teacher who has lots of time this summer and we are planning all sorts of activities- I can hardly wait (course it also helps that she's incredibly attractive!!!)

We're planning/already doing:
Sailing
Horseback riding
Cycling
Water Polo
Weigh Lifting
Kayaking
Music Concerts

this is going to be a wonderful summer!

I love kayaking! Lots of lesbians here do it...I have two boats..but my PFD and my jacket..make me look like a 2 year old in her momma's clothes! I had to wear my jacket because it was cold and wet and it almost went down to my knees! Now I didn't get shorter...but when you lose the fat then the clothes do get longer. My kayak is actually too big now too, my nice one holds up to 350...and when I got on the scale today I was 123..but that is mostly because I am having a sad time in my life right now..trouble eating.

Maybe we need a weight loss kayak exchange!

I love kayaking!! I just got one this past April, and all my friends except a few have them. We try and get out every weekend (weather permitting). I too felt like I couldn't do everything I wanted to because of my size now that I can, I am loving it. We have a couple of weekend kayak/mt biking trips planned. We are hoping to plan something out on the west coast next spring and somehow bring our kayaks and bikes. Jude--good luck with the horseback riding and hitting another goal
