Quitting smoking!!!
Hi all again my name is Joe. I really love this side of OH. The people are really friendly and supportive and willing to help if they can. Today is the first day i quit smoking, I'm nervous and very excited at the same time. Smoking has been a part of my life for several years but i know in order to get back on track, live healthier and get Roux En Y surgery i need to do this. The last time i quit smoking i lost 36 pounds in 3 months with eating better and ALOT of excercise.I hope to feel that way again and at least lose enough to make my DR. proud. I would love to hear some words of encourgement to help me get through this little speed bump on my road to a better life.
Congrats for quitting! I quit smoking before RNY surgery as well and it was difficult. I knew I had to be smoke free in order to have the surgery, so that was a huge motivation to quit. Exercise also helps alot! Being able to breathe during exercise is a great feeling :) I used to get so out of breath quickly. Stay focused and take one day at a time :)
Good luck, John! I've never smoked, so I can't relate personally; however, I've watched my siblings struggle with the addiction (the nicotine and the behavioral/habit aspects together). It is amazing how addictive it is, and how deadly it is. It is the only legal drug that is guaranteed to kill you if used at the recommended doses. If you stop, the health benefits are amazing!
Wishing you much strength!
Wishing you much strength!
You can so do this. I quit back in 2003 (only had 2 relapses) and I want one every day..but I don't and i'm so happy that I can run and play and enjoy life all while INHALING! Good Luck!

I'll help you pass the time lol! It definatley is hard to quit smoking for obvious reason (nicotine) but i know you can do it if you went through the mental part of the surgery and the sacrifices you had to make plus you already quit which is a plus. I wish you the best on your attempt to quit smoking in the future when you are ready.
