2 years post op!

I can't believe it! It's been 2 years since my surgery! And I still have the same measurements as I did one year ago, woot!

As time goes on it's becoming harder and harder to maintain this weight. The desire to eat more is ALWAYS there. Food addict? I think so.

I think the first year after surgery people go through a honey moon stage - losing rapid amounts of weight, new clothes left and right, but once you reach the maintenance stage it's like "uhh do I have to do this?" . It's kinda just like a eh, whatever feeling.

Last month I was "sworn in" to become a bariatric ambassador for my weight loss center. Helping people through this journey is something I've always enjoyed and have always been proud of. 2 nights ago I visited my first set of patients and felt great joy for them. No, I'm not being cheesy. I'm excited. I know what is in store for them over the next year or so and it's amazing.

2 years ago after my surgery ...6 days later was Mother's Day and we celebrated it an amusement park near our house. It wasn't exactly what I wanted to do 6 days after surgery but I did it for my daughter like any Mother would. Last Mother's Day we did the same. And this Mother's Day will be the same - only this time it's the 2 of us!

I started riding, but they are wrong when they say you don't forget....I just need more practice, but that sounds like a great way to spend your surgiverary!!

Congratulations on your anniversary!!  Your daughter and your patients are indeed lucky to have you.  I hope that you find as much benefit in your new role as I know your patients will.  Enjoy it!

Congrats on your WLS anniversary! Mine was last month so we are close. I find that my interest in food still comes and goes and I can get really busy and forget to eat (not good). It is harder to always be good and harder to work out like I was....but I am more active overall. Congrats!!

Belated congratulations Brooke,

You were very inspirational to me when I was awaiting my surgery and during my first few months so I think it is great that you are an ambassador. You have a gift to help others with your insight and honesty and I am sure they are lucky to have you.

I do find that I am able to eat a lot more now although it is still not much.  I had  a very difficult time eating my first year (thank god) but now i don't get nauseous  as much and have to really pay attention to my food addiction. I don't think it wil ever go away I just need to pay attention.

Hope you had a great mothers day!
Kevin

Thanks everyone!!!

Mother's Day kicked some serious ass!! We went to our favorite, local amusement park. My g/f had been saying since I've known her she'd never ride roller coasters or anything fast or "scary". But she did EVERYTHING!!! She's lost over 100 now. It's kinda amazing how much confidence you have after losing so much weight. And I had a blast too!!!

I'm very happy being an ambassador. It's a lot of fun and I like being part of something BIG! My weight loss center is doing a kayaking field trip at the end of June and I can't wait - it will be a first for both of us.
