Hello everyone! I am Beth from Boston, Mass. I have been thinking of having surgery for about a year now and I finally called a hospital near me and scheduled myself in for an informational session tomorrow. I am nervous and happy to get this ball rolling and find out more information. Everyone seems to have such great stories on here and it has helped me out a lot in deciding to look further into this. I look forward to learning as much as possible from everyone and getting to know you all.

Beth :)

Congratulations, Beth, on taking that first step towards your healthy & vibrancy.  This is a major process that does change your life for the rest ofyour life.  But then again, when I was super morbidly obese I really wanted and needed this major change.

Take everything in & ask lotsa questions.  This is your body andyour life.  Take this opportunity to get as much knowledge about WLS as possible.

I have been to two seminars and both were very helpful. In mine, the surgeon discussed the 4 major types of WLS (both good and bad) then opened up the floor for questions. It was very informational. I went to the session thinking about the Band, but left it dead-set on the Sleeve. They really help YOU decide what is best.

Good luck, have fun, and ask questions!!!

 Thanks guys!!

I found the information meeting very helpful. I had already researched this quite a bit on my own but I still learned a lot today. I scheduled an appt with a surgeon at the end of the meeting for May 13th! I'm excited to start this process. It seems like we have to do a million things to get this done but it will all be worth it in the end. I look forward to learning more from you all as I continue this process.

That's too funny we have an appt the same day!

I went to Salem Hospital yesterday for the meeting. I met 2 surgeon's Dr Buckley and Dr Benedetto. I chose Dr Benedetto as my surgeon because he did most of the talking and I immediately liked him. I heard great things about Dr Buckley as well. Now I have to call my insurance company today and get some things in writing that they will cover this. I hope that doesn't take me all day! haha

Hi Beth,

I had Dr Buckley, but I've heard great things about Dr Benedetto.  Salem has a good program, I liked the aftercare program.  I still see the nurse at the Heart and Wellness Center, as well as the nutritionist, so it's nice to know that support is still there.  Let me know if you have questions!
