Food Forum - Week 3
Ok ya'll - this week I am going to offer you two kinds of advice!
Papaya Enzyme - I recently had a major problem with food being stuck in my band. After it being in there for 2 days I tried some of these wonder pills. They helped breakdown the food to allow liquids to pass through the band - yes, I was THAT Blocked! It was crazy. I am sure if I would have kept going for a few more days I could have removed the blockage with the Papaya & Pineapple Enzyme Tablets from Trader Joes (vitamin section!)
As a result of the blockage above I had to go to my surgeons office today, he removed 5cc's of fluid from my band and put me on a creamy diet for the next two days. I came home and made an AWESOME soup and had to share. I wish I had this soup idea right after surgery!
Jamie's Creamy Chicken and Avacado Soup
1 can of lowfat cream of chicken soup
1 Avacado - slightly soft when you squeeze it
1/4 cup of Picante Sauce or Salsa
8 oz of fat free chicken broth or water
Two tablespoons of shredded cheddar cheese
a Tablespoon of Olive Oil
Salt & Pepper to Taste
I threw it all in a blender and let it get nice and creamy. Heated it up and I am eating it as I type this. It's so good and makes me feel like I am actually eating a real meal. If you've recently had your surgery you could totally eat this (I would) or if you've had your surgery already do a variation of this by keeping it chunkier and adding some diced chicken. It makes a big batch so you'll have some left over to freeze!
Serve on top some shredded cheddar and avacado slices. YUM
Very happy.... :)

I had an issue with one of my teeth and I couldn't chew and I get this to die for Garlic Pepper Chicken stir fry at a local Thai place...anyway had some and I just put it in the food processer and it was still really yummy with a good flavor. So when folks are "stuck" a food processer can be a friend.
For my recipe for the week, it is for folks farther out...but when I get a need to feed my sweet tooth I get raw almonds and a few semi sweet chocolate chips and melt the chips slightly (microwave or stove top) and mix them together. The warm almonds and chocolate are great. Now portion size is the trick....about 8-10 almonds and maybe 8 little chips. It is a satisfying snack when I need protein. Chew well though...(for those of you who are at goal and a year out).
