STUCK since Friday!? Help

Hello!

I'm in need of lots of advice here.  I ate something on Friday night (a vegan corndog) and I've been feeling stuck since.  I've vomited and the feeling is still there.

On Saturday I was not able to eat anything and for most of the day all I could do was sipps of water.    As the day progressed I was able to drink more but definetly havent eaten anything.  Today I am just starting with protein pudding by even that is giving me a hard time so I am going very slow.

I'm not in pain, I am just unable to eat.  I have not had a fill in several months so I know it's not related to that....I seriously think I must have swallowed a large peice of that corndog and have it lodged in there just right.   I feel like I am on my diet right after surgery.

Is there anything I can do to help this food process out of my band?  The plus of this is I've lost 5lbs (haha)

Anyone ever have this happen?   What is the best thing for me to do?   I dont want to go to the doc so they can take fluid out of my band b/c I dont want to have that additional "freedom".

Help!  :(

I had RNY so this advice might not apply, but my surgeon's handbook says to try papaya enzyme tablets to dissolve food that gets stuck.

Mara thanks!  I went to Trader Joes and bought some.  I researched it with Banders and more than one person recommended that as well.   Thanks for your post!

Jamie, please let me know if it works. I think it might be something I'd want to keep on hand, in case...

Yikes! Don't know much about bands...but I seem to have problems with soy or texurized protein products in general...I have eaten some that seem like gravel on my tummy...

Hope you feel better soon, if not by Monday, call your doctor's office. Maybe someone else will know more.

Warm sips of water are helpful!  I would not do any mushie food and stick to liquids for at least 24 hours.  Small sips only! I if you get a need to spit foamies carry a cup with you, do not reswallow anything.  The dr will take out fluid if needed.  So I hope you feel better soon, and most importantly do not go too long suffering as you don't want to dehydrate.   Good luck!

Sorry, wish I saw this sooner.  Being stuck does suck, but for me it seems that you have to wait for it to pass and then you have to start back at liquids and work your way up to solids again. If you had a really bad "episode" with the band you will be a bit sore and tender and need to let it heal.  Make sure to get in enough water over the next couple of days so that you do not get dehydrated because that will just make it worse.

Thanks for all of the suggestions!!!

I ended up going to my doctor today so I could get some releif.  He took 5 cc's of fluid out of my bad and for the next few days I am on a creamy diet...just like after surgery.   I have an appt to get a re-fil on Friday.   A few cc's at a time.

The Papaya Enzymes worked some and gave me some releif, I bet if I would have continued with that I would have been good to go.   I was starting to get weak and cranky so I thought it was best for me to go to the doctor.  Glad I did!

Thanks again everyone!

glad to hear you are better.... im at 9cc in my 12cc band  and I took a pill to big for the opening and had to go and  get loosened til the pill passed and then she refilled it and there was no issue,  Feel fine although the pill hurt like hell.  Keep strong - youre doing great!
When in doubt do what Yoda would do!

Good call.  I have 1cc in my 10cc band right now.  I find that with 1cc I still get full really fast, just off of more dense foods. I am no longer having to resort to soups and crunchy things to be able to eat.   Also, I think my esophagus is starting to come back to normal. I no longer have food creeping back up like I did before.
