Pre-op diet

So the hubby has started his pre-op diet effective today. I will start mine next week on Wed as well. I feel like such an ass because he wants me to continue to eat normally until its my time to start. I feel like I am doing him an injustice by having the solid foods knowing that he is probably sitting there dying for something more than jello or broth.

I told him I would do it with him as well as my weeks worth but he is insisting that I dont.
What do you all think?

Sounds like you both are really being supportive of each other. Maybe do ther regular food eating out of sight and smell range to not break your hubby's heart or spirit. Good luck to you both.

Do it with him! It can't hurt you and it would totally help him..that's my suggestion

I think supporting one another is important. I think your partner's suggestion is supportive. It is up to you but I would not feel bad eating a non-pre-op diet while my partner is on a pre-op diet. It depends on how focused your partner is and his will power. If you feel he will fail if you follow this path, then I would not follow it. You might consider a compromise of a lighter diet that is lower in calories and healthy. That's not a bad idea since it will give you a head start on eating properly after surgery.  -- Tom from Akron

I think if you start the diet with him it would help him out greatly. I started my pre-op diet 12 days ago and my partner who is not having surgery has been doing it with me. I also told him that he did not need to do it, but he did it anyway. The pre-op diet is very hard at first and having someone supporting you through it is a great thing. If you don't do it with him then try not to eat around him. The smell of food while on this diet wil tempt him to eat. Good luck to you and your partner.
