My surgery went well last week!
Hello all! So i had my surgery last week thursday on March 25th. I feel well the only symptoms of surgery that I have are maybe getting tired when i'm out and about from time to time. I get a little bit sore but nothing rest can't handle. I held down water fine in the hospital and since ive been home ive started my protein shake and have held that down fine too. Now here comes the questions. My doctor said it was okay to start the soft foods ( cottage cheese, 1/2 egg, yougurt) and so on. Is this too soon,. its has been about a week and 2 days. I tried a tiny bit of all three and it seemed to go fine but i really dont want to be rushing things, I went through the kaiser classes and I prepared myself in every way i could but I feel so LOST! Help!
Congratulations - sounds like all is going well. It will all be so worth it!
I can't entirely remember anymore which is hard to believe but I think I was on:
Clear liquids for 2-3 days
Protein drinks etc. for 10 days - 2 weeks
Soft foods 2-4 weeks
I was allowed to gradually reintroduce all foods after 8 weeks post-op.
Take it easy on the soft foods (stick to really soft perhaps).
Stuff to try - whipped cottage cheese, FAGE or Chobani greek yogurt,
Dannon Light and Fit Carb control vanilla,
EAS RTD chocolate shake, sugar-free syrups to boost flavor and change-up routine
All the surgeons (and patients) are a little different. I don't think the little variations make a ton of difference as long as you follow their outline, walk, control portions and go for the protein first.
Sticking to the rules really paid off for me. 173 pounds down permanently. My weight has been stable since October and I even thought to myself last night "gee I look cute".
