Goals are a great inspiration to stay focussed!
My partner and I have set a date to go to Vermont and get married! It's June 12th. So I am gonna dig deep and try and work on my fitness before the wedding! I have 11 weeks 'till the big day. I think it's very doable to lose what I want. I've also been lifting weights. It'd be nice to start developing more muscles by then.
We're going on a cruise to Alaska in August. So I'm also motivated to stick to this plan in order to be in swim suit shape by then!
These little deadlines are pretty motivating! Maybe everyone should set a date and get married.

What a great way to get yourself on task!! Goals really do make things clear, concrete and keep you focused.
My friends and I are riding the 5 boro tour in NYC the first week of May. I started a bike ( cycling) team 2 years ago called the cyco chicks and the team trained all summer and then finally rdoe a 160 mile/3 day ride that started at the head of Cape Cod and ended in Ptown. My goal is to be at 175 lbs... a weight I have not seen sicne the 90's!! I have been riding for 5 years now and have never been smaller than 190's so I can't wait to feel what it is like to have less of me to drag up those hills!!
Good luck with your own weight loss and all the very best in your marriage!! Congrats to both of you and let us know how you are doing!

Hey I haven't been on for awhile.....looks like you are doing great. The bike trip sounds like fun. I am planning on walking in a 5K to benefit domestic violence. This is a huge step for me as before surgery I was not able to walk around the block without being winded. Now I walk 2 miles with no difficulty so I only have a lttle bit more training to know I can do the 3 miles for this event. I have just over a month to "finish" my training but I really feel like it is just the beginning.
Hope all is well.

That is fantastic. I love having goals to keep me focused. My partner and I went on a cruise to Alaska and we just LOVED it. We would love to go again. If you are going to Juneau I highly recommend the tour to the Taku lodge. It is a little expensive with the plane trip. But the views are breathtaking landing in the water is really cool as well. When you get there they feed you and amazing lunch of salmon that was caught that day. Then you can explore the area. The glacier is amazing. Also if you are there don't forget to see "Patsy Ann" the statue of the city's dog.....you should read her story, it is heart warming.
Have a great trip and congrats on your wedding.

Mick, True. A wedding and a cruise are definitely motivators. I knew they were for me. I have seen how well you can do in 11 weeks and am sure you will be at goal. I can also tell you that swimming on an Alaskan cruise is indeed possible. I went in August on a warmer than normal week where the days all hovered around 75-80 and sunny. Best of luck to the two of you! -- Tom
