question
I'm totally with Brooke on that (although I'm single.) My surgery is the best decision that I ever made and if talking to 100 people about it inspires 1 person to change their life, then I'm very happy. Its part of who I am and when I'm dating a woman, she gets to know all of me. Plus, I'm only 7 months out (today) and I still have those adorable little scars. She'll see them.
I told people when I was actively researching surgery and when I was really involved in my program as it consumed much of my thought process and time. As I get much closer to my goal and I'm further out from my surgery date, i don't know that I tell everyone. If people ask me why I eat small portions, then I would tell them. I am very proud of my success. I keep photos of what I looked like before surgery in my home to remind me of where my journey started and to keep me from getting complacent.
I don't know if you need to tell her about your surgery before you go on your first date but I think before you two move in together, you might want to tell her. If she notices that you're eating smaller meals, that's a great thing, isn't it? It means she's observant. My partner and I often split a meal when we go out.
I think communication is the cornerstone of a successful relationship. When it starts with secrets, eventually someone starts to wonder what other things you are secretive about. "I don't see why they need to know." Sort of reminds me of why I tried to justify not coming out to people. She probably likes you for you and not your portion sizes.

I have been wondering the same thing myself. I recently began communicating with someone online and am supposed to meet him when he gets back to FL in 2 weeks. I am not sure if this is something he needs to know about me before he even meets me or not. I don't want to freak him out. Wait till he finds out I am going to Mexico for plastic surgery in June, that wil really scare him off ha ha.

Thanks again for all of your input. We talked on the phone today and I told her. It came up in conversation because she works at the same hospital where I had the surgery. She works in the same place where I went to the aftercare program, she just works in a different area. So it's a small world!!!! :) I'm glad I told her and she seemed to still want to talk to me after that , so it's a good thing :)
So Kevin maybe it will come up in conversation somehow for you too :)
