I am 2 weeks post op and I feel great. I sometimes wonder if they actually did anything in there. Then I look down and see my pants falling off and I realize that yes they did. I had my surgery on Tuesday 2/9 went home Thurs 2/11. Had my first appointment post op with my surgeon Mon 2/15 dug my car out of the snow on Fri 2/19 and went back to work Mon 2/22. I feel very lucky to feel as good as I do. My sister had this surgery 5 years ago and did not return to work for 1 month. I have been following my doctors orders, walking as much as possible and sipping as much as I can stomach. I really feel that my doctor and his staff really prepared me for this life change. I have had some dry mouth issues and feeling a bit weak at moments but I am sure this is normal? The hardest thing I have encountered is crushing my pills and trying to drink them. They are so bitter and nasty tasting. Any suggestions on how to tolerate them better? I was very shocked that I had lost 14.5 lbs the first week. I have decided not to have a scale in my house as I will become obsessed with weight loss. I am focusing on how I feel and how my clothes are fitting. I did have a moment when I got home and crushed my pills for the first time. I thought what have I done. Then I watched the tv and could not believe how many commercials there are for food, food, food! It's no wonder this country has such a high obesity rate. I had to tell myself I made the right decision. I have not been hungry in 2 weeks but still have a craving for pizza and a hamburger. I now have to deal with the real reasons I ate before. I don't think anyone can really prepare for the major ways your life changes both personally and socially after surgery.
I am very glad I made this decision. The bitter taste of pills only lasts for a few minutes but a healthy thin body is forever! Blessed Be!

 Fantastic isn't it???
I felt remarkable right after surgery. Small amount of pain at first but not even enough to medicate for. Re: the pills..the ones you need the most which are related to the surgery according to Mass. General Hospital  weight center in Boston are: B12, Multi vits, calcium citrate w/D3. Then your regular meds if any. NO NSAIDS EVER AGAIN. I never had to crush meds. And I still take a lot.

The bariatric ones are:

The B12 (2 a day) are sublingual..under the tongue and let them absorb..2 Flintstone chewable with Iron..(am still taking these) and Cal. citrate..i take 1500/day cuz I am an old girl..500 3x a day w/meals. I like the chewable from iBariatric.com..soft and chewy. Lemon and Choc.

Make sure you get your protein in and lots of fluids. really.
