You can take HIV meds after the surgery, but you want to talk with your HIV doctor about subbing some of the pills as there are quite a few that can not be crushed and you will need either the liquid form or some sort of crushable substitute. Once you heal from surgery and you get your first couple of fills you can go back to your original regime.
I am positive and I have the lap-band and I have been taking my same combination since the surgery. So far the meds are fine for me. I chose the band because I wanted to leave my digestive system untouched just incase I needed to be able to eat more in the future. I didn't want to go with anything that was malabsorptive. I have seen quite a few people on here who have had the RNY and their doctors were fine with it, so do your research and come up with your conclusion on that.
