Help! I'm a hater!

Help me stop hating on straight couples for getting married. Every time I hear about a straight marriage it makes me so sad that I can't marry the person I love- SO UNFAIR.  I know life is unfair and I should just suck it up but arrrrgh.

Okay rant over- thanks for listening/reading.

I know how you feel. When I was with my X-girlfirned,  we used to talk about getting married all the time.   She has family in Hawiaii, so we had talked about going there cuz it was legal there at the time.  But even if we had, it wouldn't have been recognized as "legal marriage" in other states.   It was so frustrating. 
   Though we aren't together any longer, she was the love of my life and I felt cheated that we didnt have the "right" to be married like other couples.   The worst part is, I dont know if closed minded people will ever get past the way they think about same sex couples.  You would thgink that Cali (which is where my X is from) would have been the first state to legalize it.  Suprisingly, though they were not.   I hope one day you will get the opportunity to make it all legal.   And rant on...maybe it will open some closed minds if they see how in love you are.  Somethimes it takes knowing someone in the situation to make people realize how silly their predijuice ideas are.  

 They expect us to get so excited at their marriage but they won't stand up for ours... it's selfish. 

Damn straight I do. Just like I get excited when you find the person you love. I also am pissed that DOMA was passed since I goes against the full faith and credit clause. Yeah, I hate that you guys get the short end of the stick. Just don't lump all of us straight ppl into the same catagory. I actually cried when Prop 8 passed.

Sorry, I wasn't referring to all straight people.

It's cool. Like I said in my apology (separate thread) I am blaming the hormones.

I cried too.  I've marched and protested...   I understand what you mean though. I used to HATE rich people...or what I considered to be rich... it's a long story but it was something I hated about myself and it took me a long time to deal with it.  I am not saying its the same thing but the "hater" part kind of is... you hate them because they have something you cant have.   I think it's 100% WRONG to allow people to vote on things like same sex marriage... you dont VOTE on human rights.  I am not a fan of this country quite frankly.

Thanks Jess, you totally got what I was saying. I too, I find it totally reprehensible that we should vote on anyone's human rights!

I don't blame anyone for being angry about this, it's completely not fair. But some of "them" do care and are boycotting marriage until it's open to everyone.

My partner is trans but preop so we could marry now but haven't felt we need to at this point. Maybe sometime in the future. I don't know what will happen once she transitions, if we'll then be legally unable to marry cause we'd both be women? 

I just felt the need to chime in to defend some "straight" people *****ally think the situation sucks and who are even forging ahead with domestic partnerships despite the legal ability to marry. Myself included. Though I am so far from straight, it's not funny. But I am a female with a currently male partner so I guess I count.

I soooo appreciate straight folks who boycott marriage, such as Sarah Silverman *****cently came out and said she can't believe that anyone would get married when some people could not. I am glad that straight people can get married, but I'm just so jealous because I cannot!!
