Nasty Compliment....
I just love being a gay male sometimes....
I was given a "compliment" this week....a chaser guy who I've always thought was hot (and he would never give me the time of the day) actually told me "you were much cuter when you were fat" the other day. Just proved what an ass he always was...still hurt though.
Also, I auditioned for a choir and made it. I asked for critique on my audition during our first session as a group. The director told me "You were pitchy, your voice was all over the place and I am concerned about my voice...but I thought anyone who could lose 70lbs would be willing to stick with it and try try try, not everone is meant to sing a solo"
I'm sorry, am I overreacting about these comments? Why are people so ugly sometimes.

Shocking how ****ty people can be isn"t it. These are some of the people we have compared ourselves to when we were fat and wanting to be something/someone else. Don't lose sight of who you are bud. Chaser guy is a total B----!! Give him a MISS. Director is pretty damned catty taking ashot at your weight loss while he gave you "constructive " criticism. Some folks are just miserable human beings and deeply threatened by others. It is about them and not you. Let 'em wallow while you resist the urge to join them. Hang in there!

I have had a few chasers tell me that I looked better when I was fatter. I told them that I looked like **** every time I had to put an insulin needle in me and that usually ends that conversation.
Fuck the chaser, theres still plenty for them to chase and you are a hottie. I was showing your pics to some of my friends here in Houston and you got a good 'WOOF" out of quite a few of them.

I say **** the chaser too LOL!! I honestly don't understand the "chaser world" and probably never will but at this point in your journey I wouldn't let the opinion of a chaser ruin your day!!! Of course he's going to be an ass ..you no longer fullfill some fantasy for him. But you know what?? Now you will be attracting all sorts of people, not just ones who are trying to fullfill a fantasy! And in my opinion ...you are a hottie!
Jamie,
Some people are just asses. It goes to show you there is a lot to the quality of the person beyond appearance. Now you know for sure you will never give this guy the time of day. As for your appearance, you look great. Your weight loss only makes you look better. I would be wiling to bet most of the other people you meet and work with have quite the opposite opinion.
In terms of the choir. It seems like a pretty direct assessment. Oh well, you asked for it. Not knowing the director, it could be that he is a perfectionist. I'd take his comment as compliment with a grain of salt. Ask others in the choir about his style and personality. It may lead you to better understand him. The comment about the weight loss and willingness to stick with it is really a good compliment. It sounds like he wants a choir member who is willing to work hard and constantly improve themselves.

I think people say stuff that they don't mean to be hurtful. These two might have honestly felt like they were paying you a compliment, even if they weren't. All of us have been guilty of saying something that gets taken the wrong way. Then again, these two could be asses.

I've heard a few wise folks say,
I can lose the weight,
but you will always be an ugly a-hole
Take it to heart cuz you are a very handsome guy (weren't you just involved in some band advertising?) and they are as Mimi said-haters.
