Cookbook Suggestions?

I've been looking through the bariatric cookbooks on Amazon, but haven't found one that I'm in love with just yet. I'll probably go to an actual bookstore tomorrow to look through and see if there's a cookbook that appeals to me, but I also wanted to see if anyone here had any suggestions?  Thanks!

There's a recipe site here on OH.. Recipes,Cooking and Baking Forum... why not try there until you find the right book. just a thought..

I haven't found one that I actually want to buy either. But I do find random recipes and just save them or bookmark them on my computer.

Here is a good bariatric friendly site..she is a post op patient.

The World According to Eggface.

Howdy, Sharyn!  And thanks to everyone for the suggestions.

I've looked and found a few recipes that I like.  What's up with every recipe adding Splenda though? Seriously, I've cooked a fair bit and a lot of recipes that I couldn't imagine putting any kind of sugar or sugar substitute in.

Troy,

Most of the bariatric cookbooks are not the best. As people have mentioned there are good bariatric recipe blogs. I like Eggface. I also like Jeans Lapband Journey. She posts weekly menus with tasty recipes. I also have a blog, Beariatric, that I have not been real faithful in posting to but there are some good recipes there. The recipes in the recipe board here are also good.

I find that when I shop for cookbooks, which I do a lot, the heart healthy and diabetic cookbooks are good choices. They are reduced sugar and fat and tend to be higher fiber. You maybe just have to look for books that tend to have lean protein recipes using a lot of chicken, turkey  or pork.

I found two, bought them both and love them!

There are a ton of recipes on bariatriceating.com too. I've found quite a few things on there that came out quite good. They sell a sweetner called Nature Sweet Crystals, it's great!!!  I did find it a little cheaper at netrition.com though if you need it. They also have some really good protein drinks.

Good luck!

Try your local library for sugar free or low carb recipe books also.  I did that and just started my own collection of recipes.
