I had my surgery 4 days ago and have been having gas pains.  I notice they occur when I have any liquids; water, broth.  It feels like a bubble, like when you need ot burp, but nothing will come out.  I can feel it go down into my stomach and I get a cramp.  Its very uncomfortable.  I started noticing when I walk, it starts to go away.  I wanna know is this going to be happening all the time.  I read another post that shares similar experiences, but its been a few months out and with normal food.  Im only a few days out and still on liquids.

Glad you made it through!

I had RNY so I don't know how different bandsters are, but I know that I was painfully gassy for about a week and walking was the only thing that helped.

I'm sure it will pass soon, keep getting in your liquids and go ahead and walk.

Take Care!!!!!

Thank you for responding to my question.  So it does get better?  Im finding that walking is the only way to help the pain.  Thanks again.

Congrats!  Walking and moving helps get rid of the gas and bloating.  Also heating pad helps as well as gas x.    Things will slowly get back to the norm once your healing begins.  Good luck to you!

Ditto to what Ann said. Walk ,walk walk and sip, sip sip. It helps to move the gas. Gas X strips helped and when/if you get that God awful gas pain under your shoulder blades the heating pad is wonderful. Congrats to you on your surgery and welcome to the Loser's Bench!!

Thank you so much Jill.  Im starting to realize more and more that walking is helping, but Im definately going to buy Gas-X strips.  Thank you so much, loss 16 lbs so far and my blood sugars are where they should be, which Im so happy about!
I didnt realize that losing 16 lbs could help put things back on track.

Thank you,

Hey!  congrats on your surgery!  My gas pains were awful, i thought I was going to die.  Walking and drinking water helped me.  I also was allowed per my doctor to chew tums.    It made a difference once I got out of bed!  You are going to look even more fabulous than you do now!   CONGRATS!!!!

Thank you sweetheart for the tips.  Ive tried the gas strips and they work ok but walking is still the best.  But boy, does it hurt.  I hope you had a nice new years.  Have you lost anymore weight?  Ive lost 20 lbs so far.  Keep up with good work!
