Problems keeping food down
Hey there - Had my op bout 2.5 months ago and I am still having problems with that feeling that food is "stuck" and usually have to throw it up. I am trying to eat as slow as possible and I stick to foods that I think will not cause a problem. Meaning I avoid breads, pasta, rice etc. I have heard that some people form a restriction due to scar tissue etc. Does anyone have any experience or info on this???

Call your doctor. They will want to know if you are getting stuck too often and they may want to go in and take a look. They may advise you to go back to mushie foods until you can come in, but chances are if you are getting stuck they will want you in either today or tomorrow.
I am 7 months out and still find it difficult to eat. I have had tests done and there is no obstruction. My nutritionist has told me that some people just have a hard time the first year and its not that unusual. I still eat mainly mushy stuff but try to have a few bites of solids everyday. i have been living on protein oatmeal, cheese, fage yogurt and protein shakes. I take a few bites of chicken everyday and a few times a week I try other foods but I have to be careful as it is awful throwing up and it lasts for hours sometimes. I find I get sick mainly when I eat meat which I don't understand why and is not that common but I am compensating by having a lot of beans and other protein foods. I did realize that i was eating to fast and still inhaling food which contributed to some of that food stuck and naseaus feeling but that is not completely what is going on. Anyway, I share all this to let you know you are not alone and my nutritionist has seen this before and says it usually goes away during the first year.
Good luck.
