Wanted to let you all know that I am staying with friends and doing well. I lost 25 pounds before my surgery... 17 on the liquuid diet alone! My surgeon was really psyched and said I was the big winner of the day... but I am on the hunt to be the loser of the day!! I wante to thank all of you for all of the words of encouragemet and support you ahve given me. What an amazing community this is. I am sore as heck and cannot imagine eating or drinking anything but I got broth and crystal light in yesterday andstarted my day today with 1/4 cup pf apple sauce. Any words of advice on how to handle this recovery period would be very much appreciated. Thanks again you guys!

Hooray and congrats!!!  Remember to sip water, take walks, rest and begin again!  I also needed to take my liquid vicodin for pain, used a heating pad and gas-x.   be careful when getting up and down, and just be kind to yourself!!!
WELCOME TO THE LOSERS BENCH!!!

Welcome to our losers bench!!! Walk, walk, walk and sip sip sip. You're gonna have some great days and some horribly painful ones, but it's all gonna be worth it!!!!

Don't forget to put a little unflavored protein powder into that applesauce.  Congrats!  You're going to love your new life.

Start walking now.  10 minutes three times a day to start, post surgery.  It'll speed your recovery enormoust.  Every week increase your total walking time by 5 minutes (so week two can be two twenty minute walks, week three can be two 25 minute walks, etc).  Eventually you'll be able to do one, long walk a day without any problems.

This will not only speed your recovery, but help you lose weight and, more importantly, get fit.  I HATED walking post surgery, but today I go to the gym and last longer on the elliptical machine than most of the thin folks.  Go for it!

Congrats Jill!!

Gee, that was a long time ago...I just remember doing protien...yougurt and cottage cheese...I still eat cottage cheese everyday...love it and to start the day with 30 grams of protein is great!

The recovery time will pass and you will be a big loser and eventually life will get back to a new kind of normal....
