7 weeks done

I had my gastric bypass on Sept. 11.  I must say I was not prepared for the pain of the surgery or the lenght of recovery.  I expected to be up and going in 3 weeks but an infection in one of my surgery sites and severe gastrointestinal problems that landed me back in the hospital put me back a few weeks.  Now 7 weeks out I am feeling much better.  I have my first appointment with my personal trainer tomorrow and am pretty excited about that.  I have lost 38 pounds so far.  Everyone I talk to thinks this is great, but I would really like more.  I have also found that I really can't see the weinght loss on my body.  I can tell by my clothes and the scale, but I just don't seem to look different.  Has any one else experienced this?  I have been told after the 1st  3 months that the weight loss really slows down......anyone have any experience with this.   I am on regular food now but I feel like I am getting bored with " the same old stuff"  because I try very hard to get my protien in....I would love to know if anyone has some suggestions about this as well.

I would say yes, after the first 3 months the weight loss slows down... it's still there (Don't worry) but the stall at 3 months is a little disheartening... don't worry, just follow the plan.
Don't push yourself too hard with a personal trainer... I didn't start any hard core exercising until about 6 months out (For the first 3 months I was under a lift restriction until I was fully healed)
Best of luck to you!!!

I guess maybe I should have listed more closely to your advice.  I went to the trainer last night.  A really great guy with lots of experience with post bypass ( and a trainer for one of the kicked off biggest loser contestants)  We did a few things and I felt fine then all of a sudden I could not get off the mat....he actually had to lift me up ( all 300 plus pounds) because my legs were like jello.  I almost passed out.  My doctors and my dietician all have their thoughts.  Too much blood pressure meds....I stopped one last week but it may not be out of my system.  A drop in blood sugar...I am diabetic and sill on some insulin  OR I may not be eating enough expecially carbs and not getting enough water.  The trainer had to walk me out to the car and help me down the curb because I was so week .  Regardless of the reason it was one of the most embarrasing things that has ever happened to me I spent the rest of the night crying and trying to rest so I could walk without assistance.  I guess the good news is that I went back to the gym today with my partner and we walked laps in the pool.  I don't seem to have trouble with this and at least I know I am not going to fall on my face or not be able to get myself off the floor infront of a room full of people.  What a day....I do hope that things get better with this workout stuff.  Best news is that I lost another pound today.  39 down and LOTs to go.

I get all my protein in with Protein drinks and meat mostly. As for your weight loss...You are doing great. I'm 8 weeks out tomorrow and I have lost 33-34 pounds. My surgeon told me that weight loss is usually slower the first couple months, then you'll start losing at a more steadier pace for a few months, then you'll slow down again. Even though my scale isn't moving as fast as I would hope...I have already went down 2 sizes in my shirts and my jeans. And they are now starting to get loose. That, I'm very happy about.

Good luck..

Thanks It is great to hear from someone in the same situation and the same time frame.   I have had lots of stalls so far.  It seems like I lose a pound per day for a few days then it holds for a few.  It seems amazing to think I haven't lost more considering how little I eat.  I have an appointment with my dietician tomorrow and I am going to ask her if too few calories, carbs and protien can actually limit how much you lose.  I haven't lost enough for my current clothes to get too big to wear but I am able to fit into stuff I couldn't before surgery.  I guess the thing I am most happy about is my blood sugars are good I am off 2 of the 3 meds for that totally and am at 1/2 of the 3rd.  I have also stopped one of my blood pressure pills.  To me that is the greatest success so far.  Which brand of protein do you use.  I use UNJURY and really like it but I was wondering if there was something you foud you like

Hi there!!!!  the three month stall...oh I remember it well LOL  however I also happen to think that a lot of the weight you lose can be directly related to the amount of weight you need to lose.  for instance, I was 500 pounds and had a BMI of 71.something......my first two months, I lost 70 pounds.....but I HAD to lose that much in order to keep on track with my weight loss "schedule" so to speak.  the surgery was never meant to make the weight fall off over night.  it's a frustrating process of starts and stops but eventually you will get down to where you wanna be :)wait till you're 7 or 8 months out....i stalled for 2 months!  talk about disappointment......but it took off again after that.  Your body takes pauses to readjust to the massive change that's been done to it.

take heart my friend......the fun is only beginning :)
