Preop weight loss and activity

hey there... I wonder what everyone else is doing in the mean time...

I do a lot of walking, and walk/run a 5k at least once a month.  Since its getting colder I do more of my prep for races indoors, like taking stairs at work (4 flight max).  I give myself a goal for each race, then I have an overall goal. My overall goal is to finish in 45mins.  My individual goal for each race is to beat my last race time. This weekend I want to finish in 52 minutes or less.

My huge issue with being obese is that I overeat. I am always hungry. I hate that feeling it feels like its running my life.

I'm fortunate in that I have a family and girlfriend who are very supportive.

So tell me about you. Preop weight loss... what do you do?

Hi,

I was like you, sporadic intense???  Did lots of hiking (1-2 hours per day on the weekend) but nothing formal during the week.  It was just too stressful to go to the gym before I knew the weight was coming off.  After surgery, I started regular (4-5 times per week) exercise - much better - makes the weekend jaunts much easier.

My surgeon required 3 nutritionist visits.  I did alter my eating behavior some.  Got rid of problem foods - peanut butter, orange juice.  And, added meals to my day.  I wish I had worked harder during that period on learning to chew, eat slowly and separate eating and drinking since all are still a struggle now.

Did you finish in 52 minutes?

Meg
