I'm about 8 weeks out and suddenly I'm not hungry- I have to force myself to eat at every meal. I have even skipped a couple cuz I couldn't make myself do it. Has anyone had this problem? What did you do? I'm feeling weak and tired because of it, but I'm at a loss......

From what I have read, I think even if you aren't hungry you should at least eat your meal.  Get yourself on a schedule and just plan to eat at the same time everyday.   Food is just for fuel now and not for satisfaction........

You could also ask your doc too....Mine said today if I wasn't hungry then have a protein shake.  Maybe your doc would want you to do the same thing.

When I had no appetite at that stage, it was easier for me to have a protein shake rather than food.  It seemed easier to handle.

Even though it is a bit of a concern nutritionally, from purely an emotional perspective, isn't it awesome to be in this place?

Very normal. Make sure you get your protein and fluids in but don't sweat it otherwise.

I'll be 5 weeks out tomorrow and I'm like that ALL the time. Lately I just sip on a protein shake when I don't want to eat. That way it helps me get in my fluids and my protein. For awhile, I was only eating 3 times a day, and I was starting to feel sick. Good Luck hon..

I think that if you continue to skip meals, your body will go into a starvation - survival mode which will slow your weight loss.  I like the advice of many on this line of having a meal replacement shake if you don't feel like solid food.  This way your body doesn't adjust the metabolism to a point where you are unable to lose weight.  There are so many ways we sabotage ourselves.

I was working out on cadio equipment for 90 minutes a day trying to burn at least 1000 calories.  Someone pointed out that my body would start to hold onto every calorie of fuel if I continued to train in that way.  Now I am doing more weight lifting and trying to limit the amount of cardio I do.  I was so focused on the "calories" burned from the machine that I forgot about the lean muscle development necessary to burn even more calories over the full day.

Take it easy on yourself but also take care of yourself.  That may be something new...

Hope you are feeling and doing better!

you know, oddly enough, I still have yet to have a hunger pain.  However my surgeon/nutritionist says that I am never allowed to snack.  I'm adhered to only 3 meals a day so like many other people have said, make yourself a schedule of when to eat.  This will train your body to expect food at a certain time of day.  Remember you MUST eat to live.  earlier this year I experienced something that I don't want to experience again and that is low blood sugar from not eating.  Also i saw mentioned about going into starvation mode and that is another thing you don't wanna get yourself into.  Your body will hold on to everything you put in it because it thinks it's not going to get any more and you don't want that to happen.  With RNY it's easy not to eat because you just aren't hungry but you gotta force it.

I have the same problem and if I don't eat I get real weak and feel tired......I started to make my self eat on a schedule during the week and I do my best on the weekends and it has worked.

I never get hungry and I had this problem before surgery as well and my body held everything I ate since I was in starvation mode. Now I know I have to eat and I just do it like clock work and I also discovered that if I do eat regularly I lose more weight.....hmmmmm hard to wrap my mind around that....eat more lose more thing LOL
