Just called my surgeon"s office telling them I got my approval letter. OMG... this is really going to happen. Can't believe I found this LGBT board when I started searching round the web for info and support. Must be the queer fairies looking out for me!! Anyone have any words of wisdom/advice?

No date yet. Waiting for thr surgeon's office to get the approval letter and then I go in for my pre-op visit and my surgery date. Wow, yours is in a few days!!! How are you doing getting ready for your bug day? All the best to you.

congrats jill! this board is a great resource.  lotsa wonderful family folk on here who are living this same journey.  i huge thing for me was to get involved in a local WLS support group.  my hospital sponsors 2 of them.  i've made some new friends in that group and it's really a wonderful place to share what works, where you need support, and to just be with other people who are going thru or have been thru what you're going thru.  it's so relieving to know that i'm not in this alone.  ask your surgeon if he/she can recommend a WLS support group near you.  i highly recommend it!  i actually started going before my surgery.  so check it out sooner rather than later.

good luck and welcome to the best journey of your life!

Great advice Maryn. I have a conflict as a client of mine is now going to the support group in Hartford that I was attending. I am going to see if Middletown/Aranow's practice will let me attend their's. My pattern is that I always start out strong but run out of steam and "give up" so the value of a support group will be huge for me.  How did you find the adjustment to the new life after surgery?

I work nights so I can't attend but I do know that there have been a few others that the Middlesex group is more convienent. Either the schedule or work/live closer to Middletown. They accept anyone who wants to go.

I shall now be know as Hagatha: Queen of the queens.

I am realy glad to have that information. One less thing to stress about!! Seems I have been busy not letting myself "know" about any of these little details.. denial is an amazing thing isn"t it! Been on line all night refreshing my memory about the pre-op diet etc.... I really am in shock that this is going to happen for real. I got far along in the process with Aranow over 3 years ago but chickened out. Was at the begining of a divorce and I was much too messy to take on what this new way of living requires. I am ready now and aparently so is my insurance company! OMG!!
