My Mom and I took my daughter to the fair yesterday.

One thing we always loved when we'd go is the fried dough!!! I could smell it for miles. They seriously had over 10 fried dough stands.

They REALLY wanted some. I did too. My Mom ordered one and I had.........

TWO SMALL BITES!!

For some people they probably wouldn't bother. Other people might have had nearly the whole thing ..but for me ...2 bites was just enough to say that I had some and it wasn't enough to say that I screwed up my diet.

Oh and for dinner ..I had plain chicken on a stick right off the grill. It was so AWESOME to see and smell all the wonderful fried stuff ..and not even care about it. Old me would of been at every stand ordering something!!

I did the same at the NY state fair last weekend.  A few bites of the funnel cake, little sips of wine and 1/2 of a little chocolate dipped soft serve cone were perfect!  So nice to taste but not overdo!

I read or heard somewhere that it is only the first 3 bites that we ever really taste. After that our taste buds adjust. I have tried it and believe it is true. Just take one bite and savor it...slowly (since hey you are supposed to be eating slowly and not inhaling your food anymore anyway, right?)...Then take one more, slowly again. The pleasure isn't in the hand to mouth action repeated for hours...the pleasure is in the slowly savoring the first few bites.

hey honey :)  I had two whole corn dogs at kennywood.  I felt kinda nauseous afterwards but that was just me trying to digest it all.  i don't dump on fat (dammit).  One thing last week while at work that threw me for a loop and i was actually happy about it was that I GOT STUCK!!!!!!!  Here i thought I had stretched my pouch to a normal stomach size and here i got stuck.  I hurt like hell but I was happy about it LOL  how's that for being f'ed up?  LOL  I'm 16 months post op and I'm still getting stuck.  I'm watching my intake for the most part and adding things as i need especially for regularity.  You are so beautiful and tiny and a lot of times if I see something that i used to eat (as long as it was something fatty, not sugary) I would have a bite or two just like you did....just to satiate my palate and I am good.  Kudos to you for just satisfying a taste.......the huge difference is that we didn't eat the whole thing and we didn't need any more once our craving was satiated.

Hey Beautiful,
Congradulations on winning  the food war a the fair. We had  an expression where I grew up:"You done good!" You handled yourself like  a true thin person.

I found myself crazing Cheetoes HARDCORE a couple of weeks ago. It was driving me crazy. But then I found out that they make baked Cheetos in those 100 calorie pack things. Craving satiated. Those things are awesome :) I just have to be careful with them cuz they have a ton of sodium in them and I retain water like nobody's business.

 Way to go kiddo!

Awesome!  Sounds like you've really been successful at changing your relationship with food and eating.  Hoping I'll be there some day.

LOL Instead of eating a whole order of clam fritters at The Big E last year I only had a few. Hubby and I split everything and I really wasn't tempted by the fried stuff. The smell turns the tummy.

I shall now be know as Hagatha: Queen of the queens.
