Insurance approved for Sept 14
Well, I guess I have nothing to complain about in terms of the length of time between first appointment and approved surgery date. Saw the surgeon first in early July, did all my tests, support groups and rituals (sacrifriced all my diet pepsi, for example) by August, got approved by insurance yesterday.
Now, pardon me while I freak out about NEVER HAVING FETUCCINI ALFREDO AGAIN and other similar last-minute fretting. Oh, and what to bring to the hospital. I would hope they have those little gowns in nice big sizes for a bariatric patient, but I am not counting on having something that will cover my ass.

Tomorrow is the day!
Lost 23 pounds on the pre-surgical diet. If I knew I could keep to it, it would be the second most successful diet I have ever been on. (Grin) But I was already pining away for stupid things like Big Macs and ramen noodles.
I have my bag packed; robe, lip balm, glasses, books, folder of everything they gave me that has to do with being in the hospital, including advance directives. Decided NOT to bring the Monty Python bunny slippers. (They have teeth)
Two days of liquids only, and wow, how exciting was the half-bottle of Milk of Magnesia?? If I never saw another bottle, I'd be verrrry happy. Wild Cherry taste, indeed.
Insurance says no to the post surgery vitamins, calcium, iron, what a shock. Luckily, I bought some in advance.
The Mrs. has telephone numbers for the few friends who have been my support network. And she promises to make me some more jello now that she finished the bowl I made yesterday.
I can't believe it is actually happening. I can't believe I will get to sleep tonight, even though they want me there at 6AM. 6AM is NOT on gay standard time.
And before I went in, I wanted to let the people here know that is was a huge relief to just find "my people" and although I haven't posted much, I read many, many of your messages and threads. You have been my support group.
Wish me luck; keep on losing. (Grin)
