Kinda new!
I've been on this site for a couple of weeks now. I have posted on the main forum with a hello message. I had no clue this forum itself was here, it kinda makes it better to know there are others GLBT out there just like me :). Anyhow, my names Candy. I go by Candice at work and with the family. I am 24 and I have a partner of a year and a half who is 14 years older then me. Some people might think that is crazy, but I don't feel that way. Age is just a number and love is love. Just as loving who you love shouldn't matter what sex or race they are, you know? I am from Texas. I live close to Houston, I had to get away from the big city so I moved 40 or so minutes from it. I do work in Houston though, on the West side close to Katy. I am a sleep tech and work 3 nights a week with 12 hour shifts. I am planning on going back to school and become a teacher hopefully by a year and a half from now. So yeah I am 265lbs and 5ft and 8 1/2 in. I am going to be having the RNY and found out for the first time I have hyperthyroidism. Yay? Not really, kinda freaks me out. I get to start meds for that today after I get off. Anyhow, I plan on having my surgery hopefully by the end of this month or by the beginning of October. I am very excited and can't wait to finally get this weight off for good. I have already started writing down recipes for protein shakes and meals I can cook after I get off the liquid and soft food diets. If you guys have any liquid/soft food recipes, do spill! I am not a huge onion fan so nothing with onions would be good, lol. I hope to make some good friends on here. I am working on getting a current picture up. The one in my avatar is just a facial shot. Ok well I must be getting back to work! Hope to get to hear from you guys soon! :) Take care!
Hi Candy -- welcome! I'm very new here myself but, like you, happy to find a GLBT community.
I'm not having surgery (lap band****il early November but I'm starting to get anxious to move on to the next stage of my life. I've already bought a couple of bariatric cookbooks so I can try some of the recipes before I have the surgery. I've made a couple from "Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery" by Levine and Bontempo-Saray. They claim that the recipes have been tested to taste as well pureed as solid. So far I've been pleased by the ones I've tried.
Hope this helps.![](http://images.obesityhelp.com/_shared/images/smiley/msn/biggrin2.gif)

Thanks! I fell in love with it the first time I saw it. I think the original caption was "What canary?" but he just reminded me of the way I sometimes see myself. Hopefully, once the surgery is over and the dust has settled I'll start seeing myself as a sleek panther and not as a fat cat.

Welcome to this fantabulous forum!!!
I have no recipes for liquid/soft food! For liquids I stuck with broth, popsicles, jello, and water. And soft foods I did cottage cheese, apple sauce, yogurt, and mashed potatoes. No way in hell was I sticking stuff in a blender and eating that lol. If it didn't already come 'mashed' I wasn't mashing it - except for the potatoes.

Well thank you all for the warm welcome :) Much appreciated! Makes me feel thankful to have somewhere to go when I might need it! Hopefully I will be finishing up everything next Friday and then on my way to getting my surgery. I'll have to check out that cookbook. I looked online for some recipes and all I really found that was good was the protein shakes I found, lol. I don't mind the Whey Protein brand by Vitamin World, I'm hoping this one is one I can use thats approved. I looked at the label and couldn't see why it wouldn't be. Next move is to get some vitamins. I found all the ones I needed on Vitamin World, but the Calcium Citrate w/ D3... I was reading the label on there and it stated Calcium Carbonate in ( )'s so I don't know if that means it has it. Anyone know where I can get this kind besides there that is definate Calcium Citrate? Let me know! :) Thanks!
