Hello All,

I've just recently joined the site and looking to have this procedure done soon. I'm 39 year old afro-american female with a girlfriend of 5 years who supports me with this, but says stuff like I hope you don't change when u lose the weight. I never been thin so I probably would go crazy doing stuff that i couldn't do before like amusements parks, water rides cycling and good old fashion walking without getting tired. I need some folks to talk to only serious folks who check their pages and respond back. Holla back my name is thepose.

Welcome!
I am a 42 year old woman with a GF of almost 5 years, living in upstate NY.  I had surgery about a year ago.  I've lost about 160 lbs.  I was only thin for a year or two in my early twenties, after Optifast.  Otherwise, always was morbidly obese.  I did lots fat (e.g. amusement parks) but have been enjoying how much easier everything is now.

Hey,

Thanks for writing back, I'm still not sure how this post things works so i hope you are patient. I would like to add you to my page if that's alright with you. I do have one question which is how did you manage the first 60 days after your surgery? was it difficult or did the weight that came off motivate you to handle the hunger if any.

I am one of the crazy hags here. I know that I would love to go crazy with everything but lack of $$$ keeps me from doing things. I have had fun with more energy. I have been with my hubby for 5 years. He was a jerk at first but after seeing what I had to go thru for right before and after surgery he supports me. Good luck with it all!

I shall now be know as Hagatha: Queen of the queens.

Kathy,

What makes u so crazy. Thanks for the encouragement. Not too many people responded but it's cool I'm still a newbie so I'll gather a circle of pen pals in the future. So u had the RNY done huh.
I'm looking to do the band, but alot of folks are telling me the rny may be better so I'm weighing my options. I feel you with the lack of money deal. I have the same concerns (smile). Well keep in touch and please tell me what makes u crazy.

My sense of humore is a little off. I know most of us are on FaceBook now and the action is a little slow here. I pop in about 2 times a week now.

Welcome aboard, thepose !
There's lots of good info here, and the folks are very friendly and helpful.
As for me, I have only a few weeks to go before surgery (no date set yet but - YIKES!). I'm going the RNY route. Very excited and nervous, but looking forward to learning how to surf with my two terrible teens and my BF of almost 9 years. BF is quite a cook and is not worried that I will change - but that he will have to change (his eating ways).
There are lots of challenges ahead - but you can feel good that the folks on this board will rally behind you when you need input/help/encouragement!

Hey thanks for the welcome,

At least your a little closer to your surgery date than I am. I'm still researching docs. I have 4 in mind and I'll chose from there. Anyways I know you will be okay. From what i see everyone who does the RNY seems to like the end results. I'm thinking of the band for myself, but who knows that could change. If your BF can cook you are good to go because he will be the best person to provide those low cal meals u need and they won't taste bad because he can cook good-------right? I'm gonna request for you to be my friend if u don't mind. I want a page full of people (smile), plus in case u need a word of encouragement I'll be here. Thanks again for the welcome.

OMG!  You sound EXACTLY like me!!!  I just replied to someones blog on here and I said the same thing.  How do I know what is going to happen?  I have never been an average weight.  And now, I'm soooo disgusted with myself!  So, yes, I hear you, Pose, I'm afraid and so I just tell my girlfriend that if I start acting like an ass to please forgive me and try and understand.  I have NO PLANS AT ALL on cheating EVER, but I may be running around shopinng like a nut and doing cartwheels all the damn place.

jillbrivera,

Hey maybe that's a sign. They say great minds think alot. Anyways how are you? It's good to hear from someone with a personality like yours. (smile). I don't know what I'm going to do yet but I'm definitely going to have some kind of procedure done. I'm even starting to cut back my calories to get in the swing of things. Hey I'm requesting you to be a friend if that's cool with you. I want a page full of people the more the better.
