Shake recommendations?

Hi All,

I am wondering what shake you all recommend? I am on a pre-op liquid diet, and I am finding the Bariatric Advantage shakes to be pretty disgusting.

Any thoughts you have (and how to order online would be great, too.)

Surgery is just weeks away! (I HOPE!!!)

THANKS in advance your your ideas!

EAS Myoplex Light Chocolate Fudge - can get it at the grocery store and it has coupons inside the packaging.

I like GNC's vanilla ...the good thing with GNC is you can return anything (even opened) within 30 days WITH your receipt so try some different things and take back what you don't like!

I used 4 oz of Ensure (regular not high protein), 4 oz of soy milk and a scoop of either Unjury or Beneprotein. Those worked for me since I have sweetener allergies. I also have used Spirotein shakes and those are decent. Jay Robb has some with Stevia but tend to be expensive.

I shall now be know as Hagatha: Queen of the queens.

My favorite is a pre-made called Premier Protein.  It only comes in chocolate but it tastes really really good.  I can get it at Costco here.  Another one is EAS powder.  I have the vanilla flavor.  If I use no more than 8 oz of liquid, it tastes pretty darn good.  If I use more liquid, it starts to get that protein yuck taste.

Hope this helps!

i did not like the Bariatric Advantage either but i do like unjury.  i like the chocolate best but strawberry and vanilla good too and the website gives some suggestions for variety.  i am now 3 months out but still use the shakes when i feel that my day has been low protein-wise.  you can order them at unjury.com.  20 gms protein per serving...there is also an unflavored variety that can be added to other things to increase protein and it is tasteless.  i don't care much for the chicken soup flavor because you can't really use hot enough water (causes clumping) to make good soup but in the early soft food days it sometimes help to add some to ground chicken or turkey to help moisten it.  really tastes much better than the other.

Also sample packs might be good for you too, I've tried ones from Nectar, and Champion Whey and found some delicious flavors. I really like the website, bodybuilding.com they have so much choice and great deals.

My surgery is in 3 weeks, and I have really been getting ready. I went to numerous websites and ordered their samples. This way I can try many different brands and flavors, then I can pick what I like best. Vitalady.com had the best selection. I now have about 40 different flavors. I'm actually excited to try them..lol.....good luck hon!

Make a party out of it.  I had a tasting party before my surgery where a friend and I sat down with all the shakes I'd found in little shot glasses.  We'd have a shot of shake, talk over its flavor and bouquet and then cleanse the palet with some sorbet.  Make it fun!
