Update and ??'s
Hello All,
Just a quick update. I'm through my 6 months of PCP dieting. Lost a little bit, but think I put it bad on :(. My surgeon has sent off the paperwork to Cigna and in hopes I will get a go ahead from them to do the surgery. I honestly wouldn't see why not, but it's insurance, they can find a loop hole somewhere. My surgeon's financial person advised me that Cigna takes 5-6 weeks to send a responce. So the waiting game continues.
To force myself to diet, I've decided to try the NurtiSystem program. All preplaned meals and everything. So that's really my question. Have any of you had any luck with this??? I'm trying to find something. I've got to lose weight, just in case Cigna doesn't want to pay. Plus I'm just not happy and feel my depression is getting worse as my weight is gained back and I feel ugly.
Hope you are all doing well. I apologize for being so bad and not showing up more here.
Thanks,
Donovan

Hey Donovan,
I tried the nutrisystem a few years ago for about 6 months and hated it. Not only is the food disgusting, but you have to buy all your fruits and veggies too so it was quite expensive.
If I were going to do a prepared diet I would look into one of the fresh ones like eDiets or something where the food is cooked not freeze dried and dehydrated.
My co-workers didn't like me eating lunch with them cuz they said my Nutrisystem food looked (and smelled) like cat food. They may have changed it up these days, but I have nothing positive to say about it.
Good luck and stay the course!!

Hi Donovan,
I can sure relate! I've had some medical issues which have delayed having surgery and it kicked off a "last supper" period for me. Big weight gain. (I am hoping to get a surg date in September some time.)
I've tried NutriSystem. The idea is very good, but I needed more human contact. I've been having success with Jenny Craig. Amazingly, the food is pretty good (very small portions will get you ready for post-surg life). Also, you have a private weigh in and face-to-face session with your counselor once week. My local centre works with a lot of post-surg WLS folks, and adapts the program to fit whatever works as food gets added back in. Expensive? Depends. I got a full year program for $350, which averages to about $7 per weekly session. My JC food runs about $80/week + add in cost of veggies and fruit. Your milege may vary.
And finally ... Ugly? No way! Take good care of yourself - you are so totally worth it!
