How my life has changed so far since VSG surgery 11 days out

A friend of mine asked me "How has my life changed since surgery".  Well it has been 11 days, had the surgery 7/13/09.
Well, i have more energy, but also still tired from the surgery, get spurts of energy.  I wake up early, would never get up before i had to now i actually can be walking the dogs at 5-6am.  My sleep schedule is off, but i think that is due to my body healing,  i sleep 6 hrs then up for 8-9, then sleep another 4-6.  I guess this will level out.
My blood sugar has not gone over 113 since i have been home.  I stopped my diabetes meds, because i do not want my blood sugar to drop too low and pass out.  Before my normal was 110-160.

I feel better, physically, and emotionally.  Not as depressed, can actually cross my leg to tie my shoe.  It has only been a week and a half,  and if this time is any indication of the changes to come, theni am fastening my seatbelt cause i am in for the ride of my life.

I started full liquids today, that means i can have cream soup, fat free pudding, yogart.  I had 2 oz of blended NE clam and half cup vanilla pudding...  I am using 2% milk to add to my protein shakes.  The interesting thing is I am not diving back into the food, if anything, i am reserved about it and actually like my protein shakes.

well thats all folks
Zac

Sounds all good and right on track!  The sleep cycle took a long time to even out and I still wake up early.

Just one thing, since my surgery my sleeping in has been at the latest around 7 am................LOL in the past besides getting up for work I would sleep on days off till at least 9:30 so I am not sure if you will be sleeping in anymore!!

You sound great Zac,and actually rest more than a lot of folks I know who come home from the RNY.
Fasten that seat belt, and you won't need an extender either!

Those are some pretty significant changes, Zac.  I'm so glad to hear, especially, about the changes in mood.  Also, it must feel good to wake up early and feel so good, you just are ready to get up and greet the day.  Coming off the diabetes meds...wow, that's some wonderful news.  Your attitude toward this whole thing has been so positive, I have no doubt that you are going to make the most of this decision you have made to better yourself.  I know I've told you but, you really are such an inspiration to me.  Thank you Zac.heehee.

Zac,

Glad to hear you're doing so well.  I had surgery on the 7th and also am doing well.  I went through my closet last night and have a bag full of clothes that are too big for me.  I'm trying to find out if there is a clothing swap for patients in my area.  I think that would be a great way to help each other out.  My partner thinks I should organize something if their isn't anything in our area.

Have a great day!

One of those posts we love to read! Great job, great attitude! Keep it up and you will go far. Getting rid of meds is always a winner. Remember that your better health will be perhaps the best gift you get from this surgery.
