Hey there
Best of luck in your surgery. I was a type 2 diabetic and it was the first Rx for me to lose. My A1C has been 5.6 - 5.8 for the past 6 months.

The amount of skin you are left with after weight loss depends a lot on your age, your genes, and how much weight you have to lose. It's hard to predict up front other than to say that everyone will have SOME loose skin after losing a lot of weight, but you may or may not need or want plastic surgery.
I've lost about 150 pounds, I'm 53 but only 5'3", so I was expecting a LOT of excess skin. To my surprise, I don't look half bad. My "moobs" are minimal (pretty amazing considering what I started with), and the only places I really have much loose skin is in my pannus, the area between the navel and my pubes. Even that isn't all that bad. Last week I was at the beach (a first for me after many years!) and I asked the guys I was with how I looked in swim trunks. People thought I was crazy when I mentioned plastic surgery, and to be honest, when I looked about at all the other guys on the beach who probably hadn't had WLS, I had to admit that I didn't look all that different from everyone else. Now, if I'd worn a Speedo, I might have gotten a different response!
