Post op question: part two
! month out and have lost 39 lbs. I am thrilled about it but aI have little energy and my taster is off. I am having difficulty fionding things to eat that sound/taste good. Any suggestions? Other than that, things are good. I wore a pair of jeans yesterday that I ahven't been in for months!! and they were loose!! What a glorious feeling!! ANd how do you take crushed calcium? YUCK!!!
39 lbs WOW!
I don't think I was "back to my self" for at least 6 weeks. The energy will come back. As for tasting and sounding good, don't worry that will come back too. Cravings eventually resurface.
As for calcium, I never crushed pills or took liquid vitamins.
Life returns "to normal", if with a new lifestyle, once you are back on "real" food.

There are "chewable" calcium tablets (cherry flavor) at GNC stores which are good. I don't take it with my muli-vitamin because the iron will win the absorbtion contest. My dietician says that only 500 max on the amount but twice a day. It has to be Calcium citrate as the other forms don't absorb as well. I chew one after lunch and after dinner. I also take a sublingual B-12 supplement with one of them.
Good luck!
Good luck!
Crushed calcium can go in a drink or shake. It dissolves in the drink.
My taste buds totally changed after surgery. The smell of grease makes me want to puke and I hate smelling spaghetti sauce. This is part of why they ask you to try different things before surgery so you have options.
Congrats on the weight loss so far!!

Congratulations on your weight loss! You should be very proud.
It took me quite a long time to get my energy back. Weight loss is tiring! LOL But walk every day and it will get better.
As for the taste buds, yes, that's really normal. Just experiment with small amounts. Also know that something that may be wonderful now may change again and again. I used to not be that into tuna and now I crave it. I used to love other foods that now I have no appetite for.
I use Bariatric Advantage calcium chewie bites... they are really tasty. I take 2 at each meal (like dessert). But do be careful to take your multivitamin and any other iron at least 2 hours away from calcium or any dairy, as has been mentioned.
Keep up the good work!
