Hair Loss

So I'm down 78 lbs total and am almost 4 months post op. YAY ME! However, I am losing so much hair it seems! I have always had thick hair so it's not like I have bald spots but it just seems like a lot of hair is coming out. It's all in the shower, on the floor, on my pillow. My girlfriend has started calling me her "soon-to-be bald headed gf". HELP! Has anyone had this problem? Im trying to be patient and pray it gets better. Everything else is great, im eating good, feeling good, and looking sexy, if I might say. hehe

I found the hair loss really disconcerting.  I had figured "I've got so much hair . . . it won't matter" but it did.  I started taking biotin - don't know if it helped.  I lost large amounts from 3-7 months post-op.  At 10 months, all is back.

it happens to everyone.. and I too take Biotin.. it helps a lot.. also, I've never had stronger nails before starting Biotin.. so I guess it does work. They also say to up your protein, as that will help also... hang in there, mix up your styles and you'll be fine.... o, and mine came back with a bit o curl in it.. lol

Once the hair loss has started, there's no stopping it. It can be minimized if you take precautions early on--details are on my profile.

Most if not all of it will come back in over the next 1-2 years.

The hair loss is completely normal and although some products give the illusion of fuller hair, your hair is going to fall out to some degree. Mine started thinning around four months as well and now that I've been at my goal for a bit, it is growing back in beautifully. As soon as your weight stabilizes, your hair will grow back. Volumizing products help, a really good cut helps and enjoying the joys of your health and weight loss will help help the most. It's just one of those side effects that happens.

Just keep vacuuming.

The good news is, no one will notice the hairloss as much as you.  Its an unfortunate side effect of the rapid weight loss.  Mine started about four months and it totally freaked me out.  But now, at seven months, I am not losing it anymore.  Not sure its growing back yet, but for sure no more piles in the drain!  Good time to go with a short sexy spiky cut  to minimize the loss! :)

I am 2 months post op and hair loss worries me. I know it's part of the process and all... The fact I don't have thick hair, it's very fine. Dreading it...

I wonder if rogain would help prevent the loss? I was reading the bottle once and it says you have to take it to prevent the loss. Maybe folks who have the WLS should ask their doctor if taking that would mitigate the hair loss?

I experienced hair loss ..and it started coming back around 9 months out. I didn't lose clumps or anything or had bald spots ..it was just thin and hard to work with. So I cut it to my shoulders and added some layers to it. I love it now!

GNC has a product (it's a pill) called Hair, Skin, and Nails and I've heard a few people swere by it!! And of course ..make sure you are getting your protein in.

So far....no hair loss.....THANK YOU GODDESS OF HAIR.....I bow to your beautifulness......I adore the ground you walk on and it would be my pleasure to kiss your painted toes each day.

Oh yea.....and a little praying to the Hair Goddess never hurts...LOL
