Please provide anything you know about this, thanks

So, Dr. Pompa's office in TJ Mexico ( the Limarp group)  is saying that if I pay $500.00 now they will hold thier current price of $7,500 for VSG for one year.  They take the deposit through Paypal.  I've heard of this type of thing before but, I'm feeling a bit cautious about sending $500 into nowhere and hoping it will be there when I've got the rest of the cash.  They claim the current price is a special that ends soon,  some thoughts and advice please.

I know the temptation to go with saving money and a low price, but my recommendation is to research the surgeons and find the one who you feel the most comfortable with because at the end of the day the price difference between surgeons will not be that much.

Once you find the one you are comfortable with, then you can start saving for the surgery

My two cents here....I don't know your job situation, but, how about if it changes or your present insurance company changes and WLS is then covered, will they refund your 500 bucks?

According to them:  they will refund up to 3mos. after I've paid the 500.  They will hold the current price for a year.  My insurance excludes any weight loss programs medical or otherwise as well as any type of surgery.

PayPal will protect you as the buyer.  If I were you, I'd call PayPal's customer service and speak with a live person.   Ask them!

Hey man I agree with most of these ppls comments, check into it well..  In the end you dont wanna get taken for your money, and you also do not want some whack-o Dr..  Soo study investigate, and all the luck man..  Keep us informed!!!!!!  GOOD LUCK!!

Couldn't agree more with the others on this board. I would so do as much research as possible things are so different down there compared to here and your saftey and health should be the most important thing.

I also have a friend who learned a lesson from a doctor who offered a "special". To make a long story short he does an awesome drag act in Chi-town and wanted to enhance his chest, well unfortunately he is very very mishapened the one is so lopsided he can't even tape it down and he also had a horrible infection from one of the nipples.

So my advice( I promise I am not trying to talk you out of surgery it's very clear that you want and deserve to have it) but I would think very very carefully before doing anything.

Anytime anyone is pressuring you to make a decision or give a deposit immediately, it's usually because there is something fishy about their offer.

Almost all surgeons and programs US and foreign require some sort of deposit anway. $500 is actually less of a deposit than many require.
The main issue is whether or not you are comfortable with Dr Pompa. Many of the surgeons in MX have "specials" so that does not appear to be anything unusal and a deposit to hold that price for a year is also not uncommon.
As far as the suggestion of contacting Midwestergirl. My experience with her is that she is VERY VERY biased toward certain surgeons and speaks VERY negatively of others though she most often cannot or will not back up what she says.
She often says patently untrue things and becomes abusive when challanged.
