Hello everyone! I'm back!!!!
Well, after what I thought was an uneventful surgery on May 12th, I have been in the hospital 3 times for a total of 22 days since then. I am now home and ready to conquer the world! (well, maybe I'll take a nap first.....)
I had some pretty major complications after I came home and had to go back in for more surgery, which sorta sucks. It's not like 5 incisions on my abdomen were enough... Oh well, the good news is I'm still kicking!
I am now recovering as expected and all is well. So far, I've lost a total of 108 lbs (42 lbs prior to surgery and 66 lbs since). I feel really good, but am having trouble getting all of my protein in. Any suggestions on how best to do this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks to everyone who sent me well wishes and great notes while I was in the hospital. I will respond to each of you directly tonight.
I am truly blessed to have everyone on this site in my life! am sorry that I haven't been able to communicate with anyone, but my laptop was at home and the nurses won't let you use their computer. (Something about protecting patient health information - HIPAA - humph)
For those of you who are contemplating the surgery or who are preparing for surgery, don't let this note worry you too much. The complications I had are very rare and don't normally happen to GBP patients. Rest assured, if I had to do it all over again knowing that I would have to go through the same things, I WOULD!
Big hugs to everyone!!!

Brent, It's good to see you back. Complications definitely suck.. I know where you are coming from. Three years ago I went into the operating room for open heart surgery expecting to be home in 3 days. 17 days later I went home. It's even better to hear you are doing better. Congrats on how far you have come already. Keep on posting. -- Tom
