2 Weeks to Go!
don't let it stress you out or it will drive you mad lol
I would imagine you wouldnt have to worry too much about liver shrinking due to it being LapBand
And my suggestion on shakes... wait until post op! Your tastes are going to change (at least they did with RNY)
I just stayed away from anything white, and anything with fat
Look up Taco Soup... Iived off that stuff! High in fiber and protien. (Use greek yogurt instead of sour cream)

Here is my Taco Soup

- 1 15-ounce can red kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 cup fresh or frozen corn kernels
- 8 ounces canned tomato sauce
- 2 cups water
- 2 14.5-ounce cans peeled and diced tomatoes
- 1 4-ounce can diced green chilies (buy mild, if you prefer)
- 1 ounce packet taco seasoning mix
- 1 cup shredded, reduced-fat cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese
- 1/2 cup - 3/4 cup greek yogurt to increase protein

1. In a medium skillet, cook the ground beef or turkey over medium heat until browned. Drain, and set aside.

Hi guys. My doctor said that one of the reasons my lap band went well was because there was a little liver to move around with the laproscopic tools. I think I remember him telling me that if the liver doesn't shrink and he is in there doing the surgery and cant get around, the surgeon may switch to an open surgery- Much more scaring and much longer recovery.
I could be wrong, but in case I'm not, 2 weeks on the 1000 caleries would be a lot less of a hardship than a hard recovery.
Good luck-We're rooting for you.

My favorite Protein powder shakes right now:
Syntrax Nectar Cappuccino - mixed with 2oz of skim milk and 6 oz of cold water - mixes with spoon and add ICE - I drink this one almost everyday - tastes like iced coffee from Dunkin Donuts- thin consistency and yummy
Syntrax Nectar Roadside Lemonade - Mix 1 scoop with 1 to go pack of Crystal Light Sunrise or Pink Lemonade and 24 oz of water and ice.
BSN - Lean Dessert Protein - Vanilla or Cinnamon Bun - these are thick milkshake drinks - I love the Cinnamon Bun mixed with 6 oz cold water for breakfast on the go. My favorite with the vanilla is - add 1/2 cup of frozen peaches (I just freeze canned ones), 2 oz of skim milk, 4 oz of cold water, 1 oz of Divinci Vanilla SF syrup and a teaspoon of cinnamon - I then put it in the freezer for a 1/2 hour - eat it with a spoon - TASTES LIKE PEACH cobbler!
As for Ready to Drink in a can - my favorite is PURE PROTIEN - bananna or vanilla! 32 grams of protein.

I agree with Tony... just buy enough to get you through your surgery... then try them again. Try Vitalady (anyone have the link?), she sells samples of almost all the different proteins, and that's where I finally found one that I can deal with... although Tisha's recipe for iced coffee protein may have me give a different flavor a try... :)
