1 month after Lapband Surgery
Hello All!
I've been gone for a little while since surgery.... when I was home recovering everyone was awesome so I thought I'd give you an update.
Things are going well. I'm down 25pds since May 15th!!! I'm going in for my first fill on June 23rd. I'm at the stage where oatmeal, chicken salad, egg salad, etc are a good thing. I'm sneaking in some regular food if the situation warrants it...chewing really well, etc.
I'm having some lower back pain that seems to surround my body....not sure what that is about but I am going to a chiropractor on Wednesday. I've noticed my back kills me after I walk for a 15-20 min period. If it's not one thing it's another... I'll be good though!
QUESTION: Has anyone ever done Yoga? I want to try it
Hi, sorry for the delay.
Your brother is probably in surgery as we speak, I know he will do just fine too!
yes, let him know it is a pretty easy weight loss the first month. It sorta just comes off.
Please tell him to keep himself hydrated, I had issues with that. Gatorade's G2 helped me so much, but that needs to be approved by his doctor.
I was 325pds, now I am 295 as of this AM so it's really closer to 30pds for me :)
He'll do great!
Congratulations on losing 25 pounds! It's always so encouraging and motivating to get you jump started. Sounds like you are doing really well with your eating, too so you are in really good shape.
I was a massage therapist for many years and was thinking about your back pain. This is pure speculation, but it may be because you've already lost 25, your body weight has shifted and is throwing your body off balance, or in a different direction. It's good that you're going to your chiropractor as he/she will be able to give you a better idea of what's going on.
You might consider a good stretching routine rather than yoga, at least at this point. I've used a method called Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) which has been extremely effective. Whatever stretch you want to do, only hold it for 1.5 to 2 seconds (never longer), release, and do reps. Google it to find out the details so I won't have to do it all here. I don't know what your activity level has been but for myself and many many of my clients, this method is not only effective but less painful.
Anyway, I hope this helps. If you have any questions, just let me know and I'll see if I can give you a hand.
Aloha,
Barb
Hey Barbara!
Thanks for the tips and the info! I will be sure and do some google research tonight. My appt is on Wednesday and I'll mention that to him as well.
I want to get out there and be active, I just dont want my back to hurt so I'm going to try swimming in the pool and working out in the water to see if that helps me any.
My boss (a work out nut) told me I may need to strengthen my back muscles too... i've never been active in the past. That's all changed!
30pds as of this am!
But it will pass.
